How long does it take to shrink your liver and is there anything that helps the process?

I had to do a liquid diet for almost 2 weeks before surgery. We could also have small garden salads while doing this diet. I started at 335 and went to 321 in the time period. After surgery my dr. told my mom that my liver looked good. : )

Highest Weight 335                      When I came home 330.2
Surgery Weight 321.4                   Current 170

I had to do a two week low carb no sugar diet then two days prior to surgery it was a liquid diet & bowel prep. Did your surgeon not mention any type of prep or diet? My husband only had to do the 2 day liquid diet & bowel prep. It seems that all the surgeons have different rules.

Congrats on getting a date! Good luck and best wishes to you!

 Hi Ruthann,

I have a surgery date on Feb. 3 and just got my paperwork from the surgeon.  I must be like a few people and just have to do the liquid diet and the bowel prep the night before.  Hope to meet you soon.

every surgeon is different - mine only asked that the day before surgery I eat a full breakfast, full liquid lunch and clear liquid dinner, then nothing after midnight - just do whatever your surgeon requires and you should do well
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.
