What's the best thing for severe reflux/heartburn?
I have been doing well, but the past week or so I've had horrible reflux (waking me up in the middle of the night) and heartburn/indigestion. I'm keeping a food diary to try and pinpoint what it is that is bothering me so much, but in the meantime, does anyone have a really really good remedy they'd like to share????
Lisa was it after a fill?? If it was you may be too tight.. Reflux is a sign there is something wrong with the band hun.. If it's been a week you may want to call Holly.. Im not trying to scare ya but Reflux and a band is not a good thing...

Well, the fill was in September and I've not had any since then. I've lost about 17 more pounds since then, which has been gradual so I don't believe I'm too tight. I just presumed it was rich holiday junk that was causing it LOL........I have an appt on Jan 13th and I hate to think about having an unfill because then I'll gain back what has taken me forever to lose :( I'm so not doing as well as i think I should be.
Have u been throwing up??? Do u have a gall bladder??
Ur doing fine, didnt you have to have a revision? do u reflux on liquids?? can u try liquids for 24 -48 hours??

I'm going to try the prevacid I think, and the liquids for the next day or two-I'm also coming down with a sore throat so maybe it's all tied in together (it figures, around Christmas I'd be sick!) My gallbladder was taken out YEARS ago. Other than that I feel really good most of the time, only have problems when I don't follow the rules (small bites, chew a lot, no drinking with meals, no bread).
You're doing wonderful and look beautiful, I wish I had the time to spend more time on here (does that make sense) and get caught up with everyone. Missy looks great too! Thanks for your advice, Dawn.........I'm off to Wags at lunch to get the prevacid :)

Lisa, reflux is not good sign, as a lapband patient you should not have reflux. It could be the food or a sign of something else. I would surely at least call Holly and talk to her. Prevacid may relieve the symptoms but if there is another problem it may need to be looked into.
My surgeon ask me every time I come in if I have night coughs, reflux,P B'ing etc. and tells me if I ever develop them to call him. So listen to your body and be pro active and let the professional (holly or Dr. S.) decide what the best course of action.
I am seeing too many complaints on the main lapband board where people have problems and then end up in worse situations.
Hope you get to the source of the problem

I was going to suggest proping your head higher than your midsection when you sleep and also a big cup of milk always helps (of course I am an RNY patient) and I honestly don't know the in's and out's of the band.
I can relate I have HORRIBLE reflux though..
Good Luck and hopefully your surgeon will get to the bottom of this
