WOW Pat that really stinks having to wait a year - maybe you should send this post or a link to it via email directly to him.  Best wishes that your holiday requests are fulfilled.  Hugs, Vicki
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Pat...I asked Santa last night to give you your wish...let's see what happens! He got to Salem last night ...riding in on the fire truck and did our tree lighting! He said if you have been a very good girl, then you may just get that wish!  Oh...here is your candy cane to go with it!

Thanks for all the well-wishes!  I know that the hospital in which Dr. Husted performs surgery at in Somerset, KY has to be COE certified before Medicare patients qualifies.  It will take 10 months for that hospital to get its certification.  At least 10 months before any Medicare patient can have weight loss surgery.  Such a shame.  I have heard so many wonderful things about Dr. Husted which is why I wanted my rny revision to DS with him.  I know there are other surgeons who do the same procedure, such as Dr. Elariney in VA and also Dr. Greenbaum in NJ, but I have not heard ANYTHING about them one way or the other.  Their hospital is COE certified, which means I COULD have the surgery right away with either of them, BUT, it is scarey taking a chance on a surgeon you know nothing about good or bad.  Dr. Husted is famous and I am in the dilemma of having to wait until his hospital gets the COE certification which will take 10 months...plus, think about the number of medicare patients who will be on his waiting list for those ten months waiting.  I know Medicaid patients can go ahead and qualify... for some reason it is just Medicare.  Don't know why.  But I will be 58 by the time I am qualified to have surgery with Dr. Husted which is WHY I am so conerned because of my age.  YET, at my age I am scared to have surgery with an unknown surgeon (unknown to me) such as Dr. Elariney in VA and Dr. Greenbaum in NJ.  I wish so much a miracle would happen and Dr. husted could operate on me now.  Pat in Kentucky  (a sad sack)

I had surgery with Dr. Inman in Indianapolis at St. Vincents, and have heard wonderful things about both Greenbaum and Elariney - go onto the DS board and start a post asking about them, you'll get some rave reviews about both!
