I had a fluoro with Dr. Curry yesterday

Richard and I decided to take Dr. Curry up on his offer for a free flouroscopy (it was posted on the band board) to see our pouch and bands yesterday.  I'm so glad that we did!!  Since both he and I are self-pay it was a very wise move to ensure that everything looked right without having to pay for it.

The drive was about an hour and fifteen minutes and I was able to sneak in a little nap while Richie drove!

Once there, we were immediately greeted and given a one page form to fill out.  Dr. Curry himself came and got us.  After just a couple casual questions he had me step up to the machine and drink the barium.  I saw it pool up in my pouch and then after 10 or so seconds it started to seep through.  Dr. Curry said it looks like I have great restriction and that my pouch and esophagus great as well.  He did mention that the placement of my band was slightly tilted but it wasn't anything to be concerned about.  He said if he had done my surgery he wouldn't be worried about it in the least given the way it looks right now.

Richard was next and his went even quicker!  He swallowed the barium we watched it pool up and it passed through in about 2 or 3 seconds.  Dr. Curry said he obviously wasn't as restricted as I was and could possibly use a bit more of a fill.  He said Richard placement was SPOT ON and looked great!

After wards, we walked back over to the exercise and store area and I bought several different flavors of protein powder packets along with some PB2 (powdered peanut butter that is supposed to be uber healthy and full of protein).  I was MORE than happy to buy the products from there seeing as how they just gave me something that would have cost several hundred dollars EACH if we had it done at Norton's.

~~Thank you Dr. Curry~~

Glad you had a good experience there!!! I'm now wishing I'd gone...were they very crowded?? (My hubby didn't want to drive up there & have to wait a long time for me to be seen...)  Oh well, perhaps I will have one done sometime in the near future....thanks for the report!!

Becka, I am so glad you and Richard got to take advantage of this great offer from Dr. Curry.  Sounds like an interesting and reassuring experience.  I would have loved to have gone, but it just wasn't meant to be.  We had granddaughters until late Friday morning, and then helped chaperone Male HS Choir down to Light up Louisville- now that was a cool experience.  Best wishes for a Happy Week-end!
