OT:130 ppl got fired @ my DH's plant this morning

The factory Adam works at is one of the best places in town to work at...I used 
to brag that they've never had a lay off since they've been open several years 
ago.  But this morning 130 lost their jobs, jobs that they'd had for years.   
Adam wasn't one of them but still it is a terrible situation.  I keep hoping and 
praying that our economy will get better.  U know, I'm not political, I'm 
actually glad McCain didn't win.  I didn't like him and I'll probably be flamed 
for saying that I like Obama better but I do.  I pray that he is the "change" 
that our country needs right now.  I don't see how America can get much worse.  
Adam still has his job but his hours might be getting cut.  They're giving all 
the fired ppl $10,000 in severance pay but that sure won't last long.  Ppl used 
to making close to $20 an hour are royally screwed now.  I know his company 
isn't the only one "laying" ppl off.  They actually called it a separation 
process, fancy way of saying u're fired, adios.   Well, now that I've been 
scandalous enough to say I like Obama and irritate most of my friends, I'll go.  
I didn't vote for either of them.  McCain made my skin crawl so I'm glad he 
lost.   Sorry for the morose mood I'm in.  I'm just devasted for all the ppl I 
know who lost their jobs this morning. 
 
On a lighter note, my silly husband who has said, more times than I can imagine, 
if I ever brought home anymore inside animals that he was moving to the garage.  
Well, 2 weeks ago be bought Bear our lil miniature blue heeler.  This morning he 
wakes me up when he got home, me thinking he wanted to talk about his meeting 
but when I got up and walked out of the bedroom he was holding a CAT!  Someone 
had dropped a cat off near the plant and it wandered right in. The man at the 
guard shack was playing with it when Adam was getting ready to leave and Adam 
being the tenderhearted dingleberry that he is brought her home.  She's a tabby 
who looks almost like Merlin but she doesn't have any white on her at all.  
Anyone want a cat?  At first he said that he wanted to bring her home (she was 
starving) and have me find her a good home but when I went to put her on 
petfinder or put her in the local paper free to a good home he said, oh no, wait 
a few days.  Yep, a few days will turn into us having a new cat.  Enough is 
enough already. We now have 5 cats inside and 2 dogs, plus 2 dogs outside.  But 
I can't help it, I'm animal crazy too.   She's very sweet and loveable.  The 
other cats are giving her plenty of room this morning but I'm sure after a few 
days they'll all be used to each other. 

Angela. I'm really sorry about the 130 people that lost their jobs today! Thankfully your husband was NOT one of them!!

Not yet at least....I hope things turn around for everyone.

Sorry to hear about your husband's plant.  I know what you mean about the animals.  We now have 4 cats and four dogs in the house!!!  I am hoping I can find a home for two of the cats.  they are very sweet also but I can't keep cleaning up animal hair!! We also have animals outside.  5 Great Pyrenees dogs!!!   I also need to find homes for a couple of them!! not to mention the llamas, emus, potbellies, goats, chickens, roosters, turkey, etc.. etc...

Oh my goodness, well, u've definitely gotten me beat when it comes to animals lol.  But we love our fur kids too and Miley won't be finding a new home. Hubby has said that he's keeping her.  She's a sweetie.  2 of my cats are persian and don't shed as bad as u would think.  My tabby Merlin is short haired but sheds bad if I don't brush him often.  My chihuahua puppy is longhaired and he doesn't shed.  Our lil miniature blue heeler is a lil fluffy cotton ball, I hope he won't shed bad but I'll just have to keep on my toes with grooming lol.

I have three short haired chihuahuas and they all shed!!  I have to vaccuum my house EVERYDAY!!!

I would go nuts if I had to vaccum everyday.  I guess I'm pretty lucky. None of our inside furbabies shed real bad.  Thus far that is lol.

Are any of your Great Pyrenees girls and are they registered.  I have a male who works livestock and I am looking for a pure female to breed.

Thank God Adam didn't get fired.
My heart goes out to the ones that did, especially since it's so close to Christmas time. I wish they could've at least waited until the new year (if they absolutely had to get rid of people)

Our economy is pretty bad right now and I fear it will only get worse... If you have a job, hang on to it.. because I am noticing they're scarce!

I'm soo not an animal person, at least not inside animals. Too much clean up for me.

The cats pretty much take care of themselves.  I have 2 huge litter boxes and scoop them everyday and my doggies are so small, they use puppy pads and I just put 2 of them out every morning.  I am with ya on being scared things are just going to get worse.  We're just going to have to stop buying stupid stuff and learn to budget better. If it's not something we need to live then we don't need it.  Did u read that one girls profile saying Dr Husteds fees are $10,500?  That is frickin ridiculous.  Ellen called me today to say once again there is not a $250 consult fee cause my insurance will pay it.  I'll have to pay 10% of the surgeons fee but I did that with Dr Shina as well. It wasn't much.  Have u heard anything or are they still farting around and making u wait until the first of the year?  Have u called u're insurance co to see what they say?  Adam is sick now with Allison's cold and my throat is sore.  Allison has been sick for a week with a bad cold and 2 days ago she got a tummy virus so it's not been real fun.  Then Adam is sick now with the cold part and my throat is hurting.  We all just pass everything around. If one of us gets sick, the rest do too.
