I know this is crazy but?

Here is a crazy one for everyone. I had my surgery last friday the 31st of October. I go back to the Dr tomorrow for my re check. Anyhow my story is kinda weird. Even after the surgery I didn't really have much pain to really speak about. I just figured God was hearing all the prayers from the people at my church. I was a little sick to my stomach but that was it. They came in and brought me the broth and a popcicle and of course I could eat it all. Long story short ,,here I am at home and I know that I have lost some weight because I checked but it kinda goes up and down and other than that I just don't feel any differant.I was checking my laproscopic incision marks and the one down to the left of my stomach actually is a bit hard. I actually think it feels like a port that would go to a lap band. My problem is when I went in it was for by-pass not lap band. I am very concerned. The doctor just told us that everything went fine. He didn't say the words lap band or by-pass. I guess I won't know until tomorrow. I am so worried.
Well any advise anyone?

Ok...if Allen did a band he would have port the port on the right side. He seems to do this side with everyone.  Look at your paperwork. Did they give you a card showing your surgery type to put in your wallet? Something should state what type surgery you had....Also if you had RNY..you should have a drain tube coming out of your stomach.

I did have a drain bulb but of course it came out before I came home. Maby I am just feeling something weird at the bottom incesion. I see Dr Allen today at 1;45. It just seems strange that everyone is telling me how bad they had it and how sick they have been and I am not sick at all and feel great. People just don't beleave that I have had surgery. I will keep you informed.

Everyone is different...just keep that in mind. if you feel great...good for you! You are a lucky girl! Thats a good sign that things went good and you handles this well.  Good luck with Dr Allen....

Sharon did you read the operative release that you signed or did anyone go over it with you?  Thats a big mistake if you were to have bypass and ended up with lapband.   I would not wait till tomorrow I would have called today wanting to know for sure what was actually done.

Hi Sharon,

If you and your doctor discussed each option and decided RNY would be best, your surgeon would have a malpractice lawsuit on his hands...if he gave you a lap band instead. I am thinking you have a port to your old stomach. I dated a fellow RNY'er and his surgeon added the port directly to his old stomach just in case they needed access to it.

I would ask him or get your surgery notes and find out for yourself.

Good Luck!

PS- as far as not feeling any different, your pouch has some very sensitive nerves that are healing.. so it may take some time before you can tell much of a difference.

Sharon, nothing really new to say here- you've already had some great feedback.  Just want you to know I was thinking of you!  It's hard to imagine Dr. Allen not doing the RNY when that was what was decided.  I trust you will get this resolved & the peace of mind knowing that everything is A-OK!  Keep us posted!
