any suggestions on a good doctor???

i just wanted to know if anyone has heard of Dr. Weiss or any other kentucky doctors that you would suggest for lapband surgery???

I  haven't heard of Dr. Weiss but my doctor -- David Geller -- is good. He's with Norton Bariatrics

I've not heard anything bad about any of their doctors, so you might want to check them out.  Good luck in your search! :-)

could you tell me how much the lapband surgery is if you selfpay?

With the Norton's Bariatric Group my self-pay surgery for lap band was roughly $16,400 since my pre-ops were covered by my insurance.  This includes 4 band fills with your surgeon.  After that, the fills cost $100 and non-fill appointments cost $85.

It's definately a hefty junk of change but in the end it's priceless! 


FYI - if you decide to go out of the region or country (Mexico) for lapband surgery make sure you have a local doctor who will take you on as a patient once you've returned as it's very difficult to find one who will agree to take a person on who didn't have the surgery with them.

Dr. Geller is the BEST!!!!  You are in GREAT Hands and he really knows his stuff.  Would not let anyone else be ny surgeon. He is the only one whose knows my funky body!!!!!

Good luck with your search...Everyone will tell you their doc is the best...I am no exception...
I personally love Dr. Sonnanstine...2 sisters and my daughter and I have all had surg. with him.
One sis. had lap band...the rest of us had by pass...
My advice...research..go in for consultation...and pick the one that you are most comfortable with.
All docs have different pre and post programs..

Another vote for Dr. Sonnanstine in Florence, KY.  He is TERRIFIC!!!!  I would trust the care of any member of my family to him.  I agree that you need to do tons of research and go to who you feel comfortable with.  GOOD LUCK! :)
