Well last night I cook dinner, as I normally do...
Meat loaf, mashed potatoes, green beans and rice (yeah, rice...ehh)
I get about half way into my meal and get this COMPLETELY uncomfortable feeling.. I was like "uh-oh"...
First time I have puked since surgery. Over 2 years post op and finally had my first puke session last night..

TMI, sorry.

Nice to know my pouch is still doing its job.

Hey Katrina.
Hate you got sick - but glad your pouch is still doing its job!!!!  I can't help but wonder how hard it is to stay on track the farther out I get.

Great to see you on here.

It's hard as hell.. I won't lie. You start to feel normal and you notice the other "normal" folks eating ..
Just gotta keep in mind we'll never be normal.
You're at goal now, lady...

If they have a SG at Highlands we oughta go.
I have got to get back into it.... I wanna lose.. not just maintain.. (which it is better than gaining, again! ) hahahah

I think we should go that support group too.  Hell, I may show up at their next one to get some info from them face to face and feel it out!
I'll let you know if I get brave enough to do it!

speaking of rice....I am just wondering if anyone can tolerate it?  I have surgery this week and I am just wondering if I will ever be able to eat sushi again???lol

I tried rice when I was about 4 or 5 mos. out ???   not sure but it was this summer.  Got VERY sick - didn't throw up but I was in A LOT of pain.
I tried it again last month - as a matter of fact at a sushi bar - and did fine with 2.

I'd wait until 6 mos. out for the first try.  If you don't tolerate at first, give it a couple of months and try again.  Everyone is different.............you just never know.  Part of the surprise I guess.  lol

I think it varies from person to person. This wasn't the first time I had rice.. I just ate way too fast .. usually I can have a few bites of everything and  of course more of my protein source .. but I went a lil crazy..

Too fast and too much, basically.

I think anywhere from 6 months to 1 year post op you'll be able to try some.

I'm a little over 2 months out and I tolerate a little rice, mostly in soups. I eat chinese once in a while as well but I go very easy on the rice. It tends to swell after you eat so don't get to the full stage or you'll be sorry very soon thereafter.

Congrats Katrina!

Where else could you get cheers for yakking???

For a bandster point of view on rice:

It's something we are supposed to avoid as well.  Some of us have issues with it and some of us don't.  My tolerance of rice  is fine some days and then other days it kicks my butt for me!

I can eat sushi (California roll) but have to go SLOW or it sneaks up on me!  About 4 pieces though and I'm done....(stick a fork in me).
