It's been one whole freakin' year!!
What a difference a year makes!
This time last year I was 254 pounds and miserable. That was the highest weight I'd EVER been in my life! Having the lap band surgery was the third smartest thing I've ever done for myself (having Gracie and marrying Richard are tied for first). I was hypertensive, had aches and pains in my joints daily (i would go to bed miserable) and had no energy at all! I'm confident I was also headed to a diabetes diagnosis as well since both of my parents have it. I also had a very negative self-image of myself as a result of the weight.
Fast-forward to today and I am down 72 pounds, no longer have a high blood pressure Dx, my ache and pains are minimal (and VERY easily managed) and I have the energy I didn't even have in my thirties! I am still working on the self-image part but I'm getting there! (LOL....ONEder Woman proves it!)
I am down 68% of my excess body weight and hopeful to get the remainder off by my 18 month mark. My goal is a 24.9 BMI which would put me at 150 pounds.
I found this website the week after my surgery. I have spent this year learning things they didn't tell you at the bariatric clinic and I've gained some VERY VERY wonderful friends in the process. I've been lucky to meet several of you in real life and my life is richer as a result!
72 pounds isn't where I wanted to be at the one year mark but I'll take it!!
Here's a few pics to show my progress:
SEPTEMBER 2007 - about 5 weeks prior to surgery and 254 pounds
NOVEMBER 2008 - 182.4 pounds (Yay me!!)
MAY I NEVER HAVE TO WEAR THESE AGAIN!!
I am a ONEder Woman!
Take care and enjoy your banniversary. Wishing you continued success.
