Good afternoon everyone! I was just wanting to see if any of you can give me an example of some carbs that you can have after the Gastric bypass. I was thinking today and wondered that. Can you wonderful people help a girl out?!?!?!?!

I do recommend you talk to your nutritionist to see when you can actually start adding carbs back in to your diet.
Soon after surgery I could have a few bites of farina and oatmeal.
I do toast  or crackers now and stay away from soft breads.
I still dump if I have too many sugars.  I can handle crackers and chips but I have to work at trying to stay away from those.
This is an entire lifetime change and you have to change the habits.
Due to my LOW blood sugar and LOW B/P  I have to eat every 2-3 hours and can have a few more carbs and sugar than is recommended.
Everyone is different.  And trust me, if you eat something that your body doesn't need..........it will let you know!

Good luck!

Well the reason I ask is because you have to have the energy to exercise and get around. Does the protein shakes help with this. I am going to ask at my nutritien appt. Thanks!

Oh yeah!
The protein shakes and bars are essential.   You will be shocked at how much more energy you are going to have!
I love it when someone is getting ready for surgery because I know how good you are going to feel  :)

I am excited too! I cannot wait, I am so ready for a change. If you don't mind me asking, I was reading some of your post and I seen where you ate a 6 inch sub, were you really able to eat all that?

Yes.  I ate it all.  I had them toast the bread - twice so it wouldn't be soft.
Plus, I don't eat any meat so it was pretty much a slice of cheese and a few veggies on toast!

Some days I can eat more than other days.  I try to listen to my body and I stop eating when I am half way through my meal - then I give myself a few minutes to see if I really need another bite or 2.................Early out, I would belch twice and that was my body's signal to me that I had eaten enough!!!  Iknow that's disgusting.  lol

I am at the point that I really don't care if I lose the last 12 lbs.  I feel comfortable where I am and am trying to maintain my weight now.  But I have got to pick back up on the exercise!!!!!  I keep blaming the cold weather and shorter days.

I was just curious as to how you fit a 6 inch sub in a 2 oz pouch....lol!

You hang in there with the exercise.  And thanks for helping me with the questions.

Your pouch doesn't stay 2 oz. forever!! lol
If so, many of us wouldn't ever have to worry about regain.
It will stretch and end up being able to hold a cup to a cup 1/2 as you get wayyy out.
