LOL.....it was five days when I was banded but 2 days when hubby was banded....are we thinking of the same one?? However long it takes just remember to go easy and no swinging from the chandelier! 
I'd wait to drive until you have quit the narcotic pain meds. I was banded on a Friday and drove my daughter to practice on a Monday. I had switched over to plain Tylenol by then. The first few outings were short and sweet though.
I was told I could shower as soon as I got home but to not soak my bandages although I could get them wet. I simply showered with my back to the spray.
The solids question is one for you surgeon. ALL of them have their own timing on this. I was on solids at day 11 but some surgeons want you to go 5 weeks.
