I am having knee surgery on monday afternoon.  I heard a few times on here that there are some pain medication us lapband people can't take.  So my question is, what can we take for pain.  There are a few medications I can't take because of reactions ( lortab, and ibuprofen, and sulfa). If any one can help me, thank you.  I would like to be able to tell my surgeon on monday. thank you in advance.

Primarily, it's the anti-inflammatory meds (motrin, aleve, naproxin, etc) that bandsters need to steer clear of.  That's starting to be debated more and more though so I'd double check with Dr. Allen and see what he has to say about it.  I do take a daily anti-inflammatory for my arthritis and residual aches and pains from knee and back surgery.  I take it with Dr. Larson's blessing ( he shares the office with Dr Allen).  He does want me to take it with a zantac and a glass of milk though to get it washed through my pouch quicker.

Good luck on your surgery!
