Insurance requirment question.

This is one of the requirments my insurance has and I don't know what in the world it means in real terms...lol  Read below

Must have BMI of 40 or 35 when accompanied by signifigant obesity related morbidity.

What does this mean? Someone please explain.  Any help will be great!!!!!

Diabetes, sleep apnea, etc. Usually if you have a BMI under 40, you have to have a comorbity. That is what my insurance says too.

Thanks for your reply. And congrats on completing the 6 months! I go on the 27th to my seminar. I thought that meant that i had to have a BMI of 35 or 40 in order to qualify for the surgery, kinda worried me a little.

I hope you get some good news soon, I will keep you in my thought!!! Hopefully we will both be losers soon!

Ruthann its 35-39 you would need to have co-morbidites that could be life threatening if not under control  like diabetes, sleep apnea, heart diease, lung diease, hypertension

then if no co mordities. 40 and up
