I am going to vent a bit. I went to my pulm appointment today. But, the doc wasn't even there when I was taken to a room 20 minutes after my appointment started. I had, of course, arrived early...being a first appointment and all. Well, I spent the entire appointment talking to a nurse practioner...which would have been fine IF she had set up any thing in the next 30 days. I got a sleep apnea study for the 30th of October...ugh. BUT they did not sign me up for the pulmonary function test or blood test that the WLS doc needs. I ended up having to call back and ASK THEM to schedule those things before the sleep test so that I am NOT wasting time. OH, she said she would check my files to see if I needed them and what I needed and talk to the doc and call me back. It will be as of now a minimum of 6 weeks...4 til the study and 2 for the results. IF I have sleep apnea I will have to wear the CPAP for 4 weeks before they will consider sending my pulmonary clearance to the WLS doc. Don't they really just need to know IF I have it???
Keep you fingers crossed for me that there is someone who backs out, as I will go at very short notice, if that gets me going sooner.
So, as of now, if I have apnea (I do not smoke, have ashtma, and only sometimes snore) I will not even have my paper work sent to the weight loss do****il late December. UGH! I was hoping to have the surgery over Christmas break to not miss too much work. Hmmm??
Thanks for listening...

This just goes to show how different each hospital and doctor can be. I got my CPAP the day before (yes, day before) my surgery. I hadn't even wore it once.. I had very mild apnea, not sure if that even mattered. I had to bring my CPAP to the hospital with me even though I did not even use it.
If you call the location/hospital where you will have your sleep study and explain to them your situation they will more than likely give you first call if someone cancels. That was the case for me, anyway.
This will all work out, keep your head up.

Thank you Ladies!
I appreciate all your input. I too thought it was weird so I called Glenna and she said call them back and I did. I am waiting to hear from them about the "other tests" and I put myself on the last minute / cancelation list. Maybe I can get in early. Honestly, this may sound funky, but why bother with doing a cpap for a month when I am going to have surgery to correct the problem??? All that will do is cpap me and waste anywhere from 6 weeks to a couple of months. Ugh. Well, I shall continue to plug along....I WILL BE DOING ALL I CAN DO TO GET MY WLS.
Thanks again.

isnt glenna one of Dr.Shina's girls??? thats why this sounds off.. that doc doesn't know what Shina wants... They should have done all those tests yesterday.. that cpap thing is a crock i think... He sent me for one and said I would need a cpap at surgery.... I went thru hell getting that off the orders BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! AND dr.S would go by what he ordered(CPAP) and wouldnt do the surgery without it.. so I had to get new orders.

First 80.5 pounds lost with 3cc's in a 14 ccband now at 7cc's in 14cc band
I too jumped through hoops to have my cpap in time for surgery.I didn't really use to it before surgery, took it to the nurse in pre surgery area, but it didn't show up in the recovery room until I was wide awake and waiting for a room. DH says I rarely snore anymore so my machine is going back this month. I think I have lost about an inch off my neck so that pretty much takes care of my sleep apenea. It is a shame we have to go through the sleep test if the docs are pretty sure it is caused by weight and we are taking care of that. Good Luck.
