I felt like Lisa Douglas from Greenacres!!

Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin' is the life for me.
Land spreadin' out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.
New York is where I'd rather stay.
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just adore a penthouse view.
Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

Three days without electricity and on a generator where I'd have to unplug one thing to plug in the other had me thinking I was Lisa Douglas, dahling!! I'd plug in the coffee grinder, unplug it, plug in the coffee maker, let it drip, unplug it and then plug in the toaster for Gracie's Eggo, unplug that and then plug in the microwave to steam the milk for my latte.....i'm telling you, it was rough!!

This actually wasn't the longest we've ever gone without power though. In 2004 we went 5 days without power in the middle of a hot July! I packed Gracie off to my mother's house (she's in Taylorsville and has electricity) Monday around midday so entertaining her wouldn't be so difficult while we cleaned up from the storm. I'm also trying to get the house cleaned and all the laundry done so I can pack for vacation which we are due to fly out for on Friday evening. I am SOO happy that we got things going again before then! I'm not sure how we would have worked out leaving while having the freezer, fridge and sump pump on the generator!
I'm a lucky girl to have had the generator and know it. The latest talk by Louisville Metro officials is that it will be 10 to 14 days before all power is restored. I was prepared for the long haul but pleasantly surprised this evening around 9pm.
Oh yeah, Vicki R. (Guru) is now without internet and maybe be through next week. She never lost power during the windstorm but her cable went dead earlier today.
I can totally understand how you feel.......and my power was out only for 15 hours! I couldn't imagine for more than one day, yet a friend that lives only 6 miles away still is without power. Talk about frustrated! Take care, and have fun packing for vacation!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!
You only have one life to live, but if lived right, it's the only one you need!

OUCH! Dawn, thats some mess you got yourself there. Thank goodness for the insurance, now all you have to do is wait for the adjustor. From what Ive heard from others with similar damage, adjustors are working nonstop so customers are having to wait forever for them to show up. Good luck & hope it all goes well.
Becka...isnt it just awful to have to stop and plug/unplug things. How spoiled are we? My power was only out for about 10 hours and during the daytime if I went into a room I still tried to flip on the light switch! I even went and sat down at the computer and realized duh!!!! no power! Thank goodness for generators, even though ours was out for only a short time, we have 2 fridges full of things for the wedding Sunday.
Well at least you can enjoy the thoughts of your upcomnig vacation and having a good time.
