Help!! My left side is still killing me!!!
Hi... I had RNY done on Monday, August 11th. I came home from the hospital on Wednesday, August 14th. I did pretty good moving around and healing. By the next Monday I had to take my 2 sons to the Dr. Turns out all 3 of us had strep throat. My wonderful husband played nurse in between work and the boys recovered fast and I was a little slower because of surgery I guess. Two weeks to the day ...after my surgery I went back to work..my sister and I have a hair salon...well by Tuesday I was off again and have been off ever since. ( 4 days now) Called my doc and he said I pulled my muscles in my side from standing and bending and all the things hairstylists do. He gave me muscle relaxers and to be honest my side is hurting worse than it ever did after surgery. I do not have a temperature any more...my incisions look good....has this happened to anyone else?? How long does it take for the side to be free of pain. I have not even been able to exercise yet. Thanks for any input. :)
Hi, I had a similar thing. Its been 3 years ago. I am sure Dr Tom would want to hear from you. I am sure taking it easy will help but if you don't think it is getting better you really should call him. 3 years ago I was given medication and I also received a shot in my side. Sounds terrible but it really did help a lot. I don't know if they still do that. My left side pain was also about 2 weeks after surgery. It did finally go away but not soon enough.
Again, just call him.

Thanks for some input! It makes me feel better to know that I am not "The only one..."lol... I have really tried to just chill and let it get better.
Thanks for the advice also about calling Dr. Tom. Isn't he a wonderful Dr.?When I called the office to tell them about my pain I had to leave a message and Tracy the nurse called me back immediately and and checked on me throughout the day to see if my meds had been called in and ready. About the shot...if the weekend doesn't help...I will call back up there and see if that could be an option anymore! Thanks so much sista's!!!

I hope you feel better soon.
You did the right thing calling Dr.Tom.
After my surgery i had a complication (not from the surgery) and my local hosp had no clue what to do with me so Dr.Tom took care of me and of course he was great but i feel he went above the call of duty for me..
You are in great hands and you take care of yourself..
Yuckk strep throat hope everyone is getting better.
