Somerset getting Bariatric surgery center

I don't keep watch as much as I should on here, but I just learned this weekend that Somerset is getting a new  bariatric surgery center, "Commonwealth Bariatric Center," with Dr. John Husted, of Discovery Channel fame, moving to Somerset from San Francisco to do the surgeries.

I think is great news!  My day will come hopefully early next year and Somerset will be much closer than any other place to me.

Hey. I'm glad word is finally getting out there! How did you find out about Somerset? I'm currently seeking a revision to the DS with Dr. Husted, but I understand there are a couple other surgeons coming to Somerset as well.

Why are you having to wait for your surgery????

 I have been away for a few days but last I heard from Dr. Husted, there are 2 Lap-Band® or Gastric Band surgeons  who will be opening their own practice at the hospital as well.

Yes, it is true that Dr. John Husted will be relocating to Somerset, KY.  What a great thing for us! He is frequently seen on the Discovery Health channel with two of his patients. He will be arriving in Somerset Monday, Sept 8, 2008, if not a day or two before. He hopes to start seeing his growing list of patients later that same week if our office building is ready.  We are very excited here in Somerset and are getting everything ready for our patients.Our hospital is very supportive of the new program as we are a sister hospital to Georgetown Hospital who is known for bariatric surgery in Kentucky. 

In fact, I helped build that program back in 2002 and served as program director then education/support coordinator.Give me a call if you would like to start your process or attend support meetings. Ellen Bell is the practice manager for Dr. Husted and she will handle insurance concerns. I have the initial paperwork packet you will need to get the ball rolling.

Forgot to mention that there are two additional surgeons who will be performing the adjustable gastric banding procedures (LAP-BAND and Realize Band) for Commonwealth Bariatric Center in addition to Dr. Husted. They are Dr. Tommy Shelton and Dr. Rachael Shelton who are husband and wife.

The reason I am waiting is insurance... always obstacles but in October I start a new insurance policy that does cover the surgery.  So, my day is coming very soon.
