Hi everyone!

I have been interested in lap band surgery for a couple of years.  I have a BMI of around 32.  I also have hypertension and possibly some other weight related problems.  Is the lap band an option for me and where do I begin?  I am located in eastern ky.

Hi Tami welcome to the ky board.. My sister in law2b is looking into lapband and she had to have a BMI of 35 with two comorbities. She has a pacemaker but that's it.. so she's waiting to see what the doctors say....
I cant help you on the eastern ky docs but there is a surgeon search on obesity
third set of words toward the bottom says FIND BARIATRIC SURGEON.. try there and see if that gives you a good start..
I wish you the best andd if you have any questions we are all here 4 u!

I live in Prestonsburg and used KDMC.
I had to have a BMI of 40 because I had no comorbidities.  I am thinking they told me BMI's of 35 are approved if you have multiple health problems.  Your BMI isn't that high.  I would check into it, and maybe even attend an informational seminar.
GreenEyesFromKY posted the other day about one being in Paintsville.  Not sure when the next one is!
Best of Luck and if you have any questions, let us know!
