Dr. Husted moving to Kentucky
Hi all, just wanted to pass on this FYI.
Anyone who is looking for a surgeon and interested in Dr. Husted, but thought he was too far away in CA, he is now moving to KY.
He is going to be doing surgeries at the Lake Cumberland Hospital in Somerset, but his practice is still being handled in San Fran. I've talked to his office, and started my process, and was told that everyone should go to www.johnhustedmd.com to fill out the new patient form. Call their office and they will let you know what number to fax it to.
I'm extremely excited that KY is getting Dr. Husted. We've desperately needed another WLS option for a long time now. I'm really excited to have the opportunity to have my revision with him.
Thanks to Starry1st, even though she probably doesn't know, who led me to research him before I ever knew he was moving.
Cathi Roskind who pioneered the bariatric education program at the Georgetown Hospital (Center of Excellence) has joined the staff at Somerset, and I think she is heading up the education program there now. I've read nothing but extremely excellent reviews from the patients at Georgetown who she touched. They seem to regard her as family. Should be an exciting time for her and the new group there.
I can't wait to get in and meet them all, from Dr. Husted on to the rest of the staff.
Thanks,
Jill

Thanks for posting this as I was going to and ran out of time. Whew.....new program start up is a lot of work.
Yes, we are very excited to get a well known, reputable surgeon like Dr. Husted. When I asked the CEO at Somerset who the surgeon would be and he said Dr. Huston, I thought he was joking. But he was not!
The really awesome thing is that the CEO at Lake Cumberland, Jeff Seraphine, was the person who brough bariatrics to Georgetown in 2002! I had the pleasure of working for him then and am honored to be working for him again. He has a vision and always supports his programs. His philosophy is if you keep your staff happy, your staff will keep the patients happy. One of the most commom complaints I hear from surgeons is that the hospital doesn't support them.
Having hospital support is important in any program and this made my decision to transfer to a sister hospital an easier choice.
Can't wait to meet you either. Our center name is:
COMMONWEALTH BARIATRIC CENTER
Office number is: 606.451.3916
Dr. Husted specializes in revision surgery. Failed bypasses can be revised to a DS. If you go to Dr. Husted's website and read about it, you will find there is a metabolic reason some patients simply do not do as well as others with a gastric bypass. Those that don't do as well feel like they have done something wrong and that isn't always the case. I have seen so many patients who didn't lose as much as they had hoped, or regained what had they had lost, and they carry so much anger, shame and guilt about it.
So there is hope. He will also offer gastric bypass, adjustable gastric bands, gastric sleeve and the newest vergito procedure which he named.
Hope to meet you soon Jill! Good luck to all you others.

When Lori told me Dr. Husted was moving to Somerset, I thought she wa*****ing me....because you know Ashton Kutcher knows who I am!! Ha.
Thanks,
Jill
The best part is he is intimately familiar with and performs the D/S, the RNY, the VG, the Lap-Band® and his own VERGITO (VERG = Vertical Gastrectomy, I T = Ileal transposition, O = Omentectomy) in addition to all of the revisions he does.
Kentucky is VERY VERY lucky to be getting him. He personalizes EVERY SINGLE surgery he does to the patient's needs.
This is a big loss for Northern California and a really great asset to Kentucky.
