I have had my band placed yesterday by the Baptist hospital east team Bluegrass Baraiatrics, Dr. JOhn Oldham and Dr. Weiss. Everything went great! I am very sore today around my left side. I can't decide if it is soreness from port, gas or using my stomach musles to much.

Don't know what the soreness would be...........I am not a bander but there are several people on this board who are!

Great news.....i was banded july 23rd......by the end of the day..my back and left side hurt a little (kinda sore)....  my port is on right side.... i think it may be a kidney or possible stomach ( gas) problem.... i have noticed it gets a little less sore each day... so it may possibly be the gas...( i have trouble getting in all my liquids..)....so i don't know...maybe someone on line can assist?

Hello, congratulations and welcome to the club!!

Is the left side where your biggest incision is?  If so, that's your port side and it likely is just the fact that they cut through your muscle, rooted around inside and then sewed the port to it.  I've seen reports where it has ached a several weeks and then I've seen reports where it didn't bother people at all.  Mine was sore for a few days but I was off the narcotic pain meds with about 72 hours so I guess that was fairly mild on the scale.

My port is on my right side though.  If the left side isn't your port side I'd bet you're feeling gas pains which can be a bugger!!  Do you have a heating pad and GAS-X??

My port is on the left side. I do have gas-x and a heating pad. Sleeping has been easy either since I am a stomach sleeper. I guess I will survive.

Did you have a choice of who you wanted for your surgeon?  I went to the seminar that Dr. Weiss was speaking at.  Do you have severe sleep apnea?  How long did it take for you to get a date for surgery after seeing the surgeon?

I have great news. I had heard rumors that Dr. Geller will be providing service as part of the Baptist East in Louisville Lap-Band program. I know he is in Louisville full-time, where Dr. Weis lives in Georgetown.

I think it is the gas.  They do fill your stomach up with alot of air so they can see.  I also think the camera port goes in the right and it is kinda big.
