Ok, so I know that eating  and drinking is a nono... But do you wait the full 60 minutes after eating, if you eat say peanuts, cashews,  ice cream, full cream,, ( im being sarcastic here)
I am ver faithful in that if I eat peanuts I dont drink for 60 minutes.. now this is really cuttting down on the luquid intake as Im eating every two and a half hours!!! I cant get a fill till I get the blood work done he wants and I cant do that till saturday and then see him 10 days later and yada yada yada it will be atleast three weeks which is pushing toward vacation and UGHHH.  So How do you all do this? Becca, Vicki, Amy, LeeAnn??? HELP!!!!!

Well for me...I try to drink 12 ozs of fluid before I eat. I do this because of the 60 minute rule and also because I had no restriction to stop me (per se) and it helped get that full feeling sooner. I have always been one of those people that always have a drink in hand...usually water. I even wait 60 minutes after yogurt! I know it seems silly since its semi liquid, but if I don't on one thing, I may not on the little things! Since I got that fill a week or so ago, I have a hard time now getting that glass in before meals. I also drink while I cook. It keeps my hands and mouth from testing the food and idle hands busy!

I dont wait 60 minutes,  I try to hold out 30 minutes as this is what the orginal nutritionist Erin told me to do.   I sometimes have to take a few little sips when eating, because I have dry mouth syndrome and to get the food to at least hit the stoma I have to give it a little push and Dr. Rodriquez is aware of my dilema.  I cant eat peanuts or cashews cause I have diverticulosis which does not allow me to eat any kind of nuts, popcorn things with seeds etc etc etc

I try to wait my 30 minutes after anything solid so the nuts would fall under that rule.  Ice cream though is going through anyway so I don't see the sense in waiting for that.  I also try to drink fluids right prior to eating.  It helps me not be so thirsty after eating.  I don't buy the theory about no fluids 30 minutes prior to eating but I do try to give it maybe five minutes so it drains on through before picking up my fork.

I just got back from getting a fill I think he now has me at 3.6cc in a 4cc band.  His math doesn't jive from one visit to another!!  Back in May he told me I was up to 3.4 and today he told me he wrote 3.3 in the notes!  LOL....I guess it really doesn't matter if I know the exact number or not though!  Things are definately feeling odd down there as I drink my UNSWEETENED McD's tea (it's draining slow and gurgling but doesn't hurt at all). We will see in a few days what I've actually got going on when I get back to solids!

I will push the 30 minute thing a little longer sometimes as well.  Ya know my theory, keep it in the upper pouch as long as you can!!  Might help, can't hurt!

Hi Dawn, upon reading your post I looked up the literature received when starting the program.  Of course it stated to stop eating between meals but since we are bypassing that and just trying to work with the fact that sometimes we do snack.  It says "You should not drink anything for one to two hours after a meal.  That way you can keep the feeling of fullness as long as possible."    This is from the Lap-Band System book, pg 12, Rule #4 given out during the classes before surgery.  I am a long way from being a success story or good example but I do try to drink my liquids right before eating and hour after or more after eating.   Take care,  Z
