Rhonda, I got approval on Wednesday after Memorial day and had my surgery on June 30.  I probably could have had it earlier, but I had commentments at work I had to finish up first.  I did have to do 10 days of clear liquids to help shrink the liver before the surgery.  That was by far the worse part of this whole  process.  I got so sick of popcicles and broth.   have you heard anything form your insurance yet?  It is exciting.

Thanks for the information. Actually, I talked to BCBS of MA this morning and the weirdest thing, see if you've ever heard this...I was advised this morning I didn't need approval for outpatient surgery. They just advised me of my deductible plus 20% of the cost up to but not over $1800.00  I tried to call Cathy but she is out of the office until Monday, to ask if this could be right.

Not KEntucky but just across the river (from the airport and ferry) in Hamilton County Ohio.  I had surgery with Dr. Tom and have lost 50 lbs so far.  Amy K

The ferry is still there???  I remember taking that as a kid when we lived in Erlanger and my grandparents lived in Brookville.  Scared the snot right outta me each time it rocked!

Yes, the ferry is still up and running.  I used to take it to work everyday when I worked out by the airport.  You think those little rocks are rough.  Be on it when it breaks lose and you drift down river and they have to send a tug to get you.  Now, that was scary or the day the employee got killed in the engine room. BUt it is a great piece of history. It also cuts down the 15 mile drive to the airport to 6 miles.

Hi Jan!
I am in Kenton County.  I had lap-band surgery with Dr. Tom about 20 months ago and have lost 102 pounds.  He is the best!  Have you had surgery yet?  Are you familiar with the monthly support group meeting at St. Luke?  It meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30.  It is extremely helpful.  Feel free to send me a message anytime.
