Cough Medicine

Hey everyone!

I amd 4 weeks out and I have developed a terrible cough - it hasn't gotten into my lungs or anything - just driving me crazy. Wednesday evening I took a codeine pill my DR prescribed for me. Well about an hour and a half later I started getting deathly ill...I couldn't move, couldn't talk or respond to my family, started shaking like a seizure, thought I was having a stroke and passed out. When I came to, my family took me into my DR immediately and guess what...I overdosed on Codeine which is a narcotic. My lilttle pouch could not hold the enitre medicine like it used to could - so the DR had to give me a shot to counter-react the overdose...now my problem is that I am still coughing and he won't give me anything.

Is there anything out there anyone can recommend for me to go and get at the pharmacy to spray or that will disintigrate in my mouth so it is not another pill to take??

I can not take any liquid meds like cough meds I have to take a pill tynol cold pills the ;liquid is to strong & It make me so sick I dump on it bad I think they have lots of sugard in the liquid I could be wrong but I stay way far away from it ,best of luck

Ya know...I haev never understood why they put the codeine in crap anyway...it only is there to knock ya out so you can sleep adn its been shown to actually impair your breathing making it harder on your lungs...Why not look into Robitussin or tussin dm. You need an expectorant and not the other junk. They have ones just for each symptom so you can avoid taking medication you do not need. I have even been perscribed tussin pills which are little tiny yellow balls and they work great! See if he would do those and tell him you do not want anything with a narcotic in it. He may just think you are looking to get the codiene. There are so many drug seekers now a day that they have to cover their butts.
