(I also posted this over on the main board...) I have developed what I think is acid reflux.. It is slightly worse at night before bedtime and when I wake up.. but I also have it while drinking my crystal light and eating certain things.. Could this be associated w/ possibly having an ulcer? I plan on making an appointment w/ my surgeon or at least calling on Monday.. but I was wondering if any of you have experience with this or just can offer some insight .. Thanks a lot, Katrina

I am glad you are seeing your doctor.  I had severe GERD before my surgery and it didn't matter what I ate or drank I just suffered from it everyday.  My suggestion is to raise the head of your bed just a bit.  My husband put one of those body pillows under our mattress at the top of our bed to raise it above my stomach.  If you don't have one of those use a brick under each side of the headboard.  Also I took pepcid complete chewables and prilosec everyday.  It didn't completely get rid of the acid but it helped tremendously.  I hope these things help until your doc can get it figured out.  I know how bad it feels, hope it gets better soon, Hugs, Vicki
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Hey, thanks for the response and suggestions... I am definitely going to have to get some Pepcid or Prilosec at least temporarily...  Before surgery I never really had a problem w/ acid reflux.. well maybe occasionally.. but it wasn't anything like this ...

I had the same thing happen to me. My dr. put me on an antacid and I have been doing much better. I have to avoid chocolate, pepperment, coffee and spicy foods. I am glad you are going to see your dr.

Did your doc do any diagnostic tests or did he just start with the medication to see if that would take care of things? I really love coffee, If I give it up i'll definitely be missed
