Hello Anita! Congratulations on deciding to have surgery. This is only the beginning, so sit back & enjoy the ride. No matter what your family thinks, be glad that you finally are doing something for yourself and in time I'm sure they will all come around after they see the changes you are making are for the better. I too had never had surgery and let me tell you, I was amazed at the lack of pain I had. Granted, I had alot of soreness but I cannot say pain was a factor. I am 3 weeks post-op and am feeling wonderful. So if anything, I'd like to say welcome to the new you! -Tracy

Hi Anita, Try not to fret too much!!  The two weeks prior to surgery are the kookiest!!  Try some relaxation exercises and maybe just keep as busy as possible (less time to worry)! So, what type of WLS did you decide to get??  We've got a good array of people on here with various types of WLS I'm sure someone on here can tell ya more of the specifics of what you're having if ya wanted!
