nauseated
Hello everyone, this is my 1st time posting but I have lurked on here for several months as my fiance had rny 17 months ago & I recently had the same and am 3 weeks out. Recently I have been experiencing bouts of nausea and was wondering if anyone else had felt the same. It doesnt matter if I had eaten or not, it would just hit at different times and then just go away. I will be posing this question to my surgeon, Dr. Shina but I just wanted everyones elses input as well. Thanks!

I would pay close attention to what you are eating. Things that you don't think could be making you sick, just might be. Had a friend last year kept telling me he was getting sick so we sat down and looked over his food diary..he wrote everything down to the letter for a week...come to find out the tuna salad he was eating was making him sick..so was his protein drink...that all told me he was probably lactose intolerant..sure enough, we changed a few things around and he did great...the lactose thing was temporary...he can now eat mayo..tuna and milk..but had to find a non lactose way to take in his protein as I did..I switch to soy milk...
write things down before you talk to the doc...you might see a pattern yourself..I had problems in the morning and at times still do.. So I like to drink S/F hotchoc in the morning it seems to settle my pouch and get it ready for food..
Also, there are things like juices that I stil have problems with..oranges make me sick so I couldn't do orange juice..toooo much sugar. Read your labels..watch for high sugars and back off for awhile, you may want to eat or drink things alone..see which of those that might be bothering you..
Good luck
Thanks everyone for your replys. The weird thing is that it happens at different times, whether I have eaten or not so I guess its just my stomach adapting to the new life. But all in all I am grateful for the changes I am going thru regardless of the pain, uncomfortableness, aches, and all the negatives. The postive surely out weighs them all!

Yea -I am another one who experienced this. Funny as I was reading Brenda's post, I remembered her talking to me about this as well. We found out I just wasn't eating enough!! I would get up in the middle of the night so nauseated. She told me to add another protein drink before bedtime and that helped. We all have different symptoms and causes. It's nice to have each other here just to know we all go through it.
I think Brenda and Chris are going to put a dinner or luncheon together so we can all meet up. That's a great time to talk things through and compare.
I understand what you mean. I too feel sick at different times--but your bos\dy is burning fat, stored glycogen (glucose in stored as fat) -like when you were on a low card diet. Any time your body is burning fat you can feel tired and sick. The sickness though will not be helped by throwing up--nor most likely will meds help. You just have to get through this stage. My Nut & Doc told me that the first few months would be the worst--especially if you are dropping pretty high numbers. I am 4 weeks out today and I have lost over 30 pounds. I have just decided to think happy thoughts--when I feel ill--I am dropping more weight. Hope this helps.

Hi Tracy. I'm 5 weeks out today and I've been nauseated every day since the third day after surgery. I've talked to a few people who have had this problem and they recommend of course talking with your doctor, but it could be gas. Make sure you're drinking tiny amounts and trying not to swallow air when you drink. It could also be from dehydration. I know how hard it is to hydrate. We just have to keep trying, right?
If the nausea becomes too much of a problem, you might want to ask your doctor about a patch for vertigo that goes behind the ear that seems to work for most of us.
I wish you the VERY best with your journey.
