Always being the big girl  i have avoided the dr for years because it was embarrsing and the dr always made me feel like c... about my weight. Well thanks to Dr.Sonnastine i no longer feel that way he is honest about everything . But he seems to know that my weight issues were far beyond my control any longer. When i go to see him i feel like im visiting a really good freind who is on my cheerin squad. I dont no what made him decide to do these surgeries.but im so glad he did. He has not only saved my life but he has given me back my self esteem (its been gone for years) and my ability to want to succeed and enjoy my life. I just want to thank him and to let everyone now that no matter your size or way of life that there are drs out there that can help and that do care about the true you.  Dr . Sonnastine thank you so much for everything...................

What  a WOW moment for him when he reads this! I am sure its people like you with the results inside as well as outside that reassure him in his choice of profession!  You are such a great person and I hope you succeed in everything you set out to do...you have the determination and drive! You are so supportive of others and have become an inspiration to everyone! Keep it up!

You are exactly right!  Dr. Sonnanstine is the best... he's not like any other doc I have seen or met! If all docs were like him, no one would be scared to go. He has a way about him, I cant explain it.. but he can instantly put a person at ease but he's honest about it as well. He's just amazing, I consider him a member of the family. He's awesome!

I will make sure Dr. Sonnanstine reads this...the reason he chose his profession is so clear to me.  First he loves surgery, in the OR is where he feels his best...  He is extremely good and very much the perfectionist as a surgeon.  I feel I know him pretty well as a professional and as a friend.  He is not the kind of person to operate on someone then let them go. ( he is to controlling for that..sorry Dr. Tom but true..lol).as with most surgeries you see the patient one time after then never again.   The first time I met him I ask him why he chose bariatrics...his entire demeanor changed and I could see his expressions -- this look that's hard to describe..he leaned forward in his chair and said...I see people come to me that are hurting..they are sad and feel lost..after surgery I begin to see them change little by little..then one day here they are in my office smiling..new hair style..new style of clothing..often times new jobs. or jobs for the first time in years because their health wouldn't allow it.  it gets to a point I wouldn't recognize them they change so much..not just in looks but from depressed to excited... He would get excited talking about how great his patients are..it's not about him, it all about you and what you do with the tool you have...you will see as you lose more and more..he gets excited when he sees you..the hugs and the wonderful words of encouragement even if you feel you aren't quite where you should be...he is  your biggest cheerleader....If you have the privilege of really knowing Dr. Sonnanstine you will see this is very much a part of him and his personality..it is a true fit.  I am thrilled he chose this profession and feel very honored he has allowed me to be part of it all... I am so glad you did well and are so very happy with him...he loves hearing and reading positive feed back. Brenda

I saw him this past week for my 18 months followup appointment. Everything that has been said is so true....You really feel special when you see him...With all the patients that he has he remembers the little things...that really mean a lot....Coments like  wow...look at you...new hair....new glasses...etc...you know right off that he remembers you...(as if he could forget anyone in my crazy family...lol) He has changed history in my family. We love him...and Thank God and him everyday of our lives... Amy

I sent Dr. Sonnanstine a text message earlier to take a look at this post...he did, this was his text response. "Everyone said some very kind things, I am very touched....Thank you for sharing this with me."
