KY Medicaid Questions

Has anyone ever had lapband surgery approved through Medicaid/Passport??  If so what do they require??  Oh, and what KY lapband docs accept Medicaid??

I am having RNY surgery Tuesday in Lexington.I have medicare and medicaid and Saint Joseph east accepts medicare for there drs and the hospital takes the medicaid.They don't do lap band there.Check with the Georgetown drs.I know georgetown takes medicaid.But I'm not sure if they do lapband.Sorry,Wish I could help more..                                                                                   Tina

I called Georgetown and they said they didn't take it.  Did Medicaid require you to do a 6 month diet first?

Several docs in Louisville accept your insurance.  I have Medicare with Medicaid but learned differant stuff through my journey. I do know you will have to have 6 months of documented diet and weightloss attempts through a doc.  As well as the BMI and comorbid condtions.  You will have to attend a siminar at Nortons and see a dietician, and shrink in the program there.   My surgeon accepts Passport/Medicaid and all of the docs in his office do as well.   They are University Surgical Assocs. 1-800-872-8033 Dr Shina listed on this site also will accept your insurances. best of luck.
