Hello, I'm new to your great group here and was wondering if anyone had Lapband surgery at Nortons with Jorge Rodrigus. I'm wondering how long of a wait there is from going to the seminar and actually having the surgery? I have no problems with insurance and I turned all my paperwork in at the seminar 3/20. The only problem I have is impatience. lol Thank you, tricia ann

I am one of the bariatric surgeons through the Norton Bariatric Center. There are continuing improvements that are being made to improve the response through the bariatric center. The way the process works is that once you are seen at the Bariatric Center then your packet of information is forwarded to the surgeon of your choice. Speaking for my own office, we try to get you in for consultation within one to two weeks of getting your packet. Please remember that you cannot get approved for surgery until you have seen the surgeon who will be doing the surgery. Insurance companies have up to one month to respond for a request for approval. Then surgery can be scheduled and there is some preop testing to go through. In the best case scenario, to complete all of these required steps, 6 weeks is the quickest I have seen someone get from seminar to surgery and that was for someone paying for surgery so we didn't have to wait for an insurance approval. But realistically it is more like two to three months. Hope this helps. Dr. I am a little discouraged at this time with the Nortons Bariatric Center. I have all my paperwork in and have had my consultation with the nurses and psychiatrist.  Also, along
with going to the Norton Audobon Hospital Sleep Center for a sleep observation. This was back the first weekend of June. It is now the first weekend in August and as of today I still have not heard anything from the office for an actual consultation with the doctor. I have been calling and get the excuse Dr. Allen is out of the office and then was told moving.  Please if Dr. Allen cannot
get to me, I would really like to set up an appointment with Nortons. It is getting very discouraging. Thank you for any help that you may be able to offer.  Deborah

Hi There, Dr. Larson's office (Downtown campus) usually calls by the end of the week that they receive the completed packet from the bariatric group.  The appointment itself might end up being a week or two away from that.

HONESTLY I HAVE BEEN WAITING 17 MONTHS SO FAR TO GEY MY R.N.Y. I NEVER HEAR FROM THEM , I HAVE TO JUST KEEP CALLING TO GET THE ANSWERS I NEED. WHEN I DO TALK TO SOMEONE . THEY ARE VERY NICE . BUT IM WONDERING AGAIN THE FOLLOWING WEEK. I CANT SEEM TO GET MY PAPERWORK TOOK CARE OF . I CANT GET ANSWERS I NEED, I WAS APPROVED FOR SURGERY THRU INSURANCE AND THEN DENIED. NOW IM WAITING ON AN APPEAL AND I THINK THE DEADLINE IS THE 27TH . ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS, IF IM NOT GETTING MY SURGERY . I WANT TO KNOW , SO I CAN GO ELSEWHERE. I UNDERSTAND A WAIT . AND I HAVE BEEN VERY PATIENT . BUT 17 MONTHS IS A LONG WAIT AND STILL NOT KNOW ANYMORE TODAY THEN THE DAY I STARTED . SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS . BUT I AM YELLING THIS OUT LOUD. BY THE TIME I GET IT  . I WILL BE ON NERVE MEDS JUST WAITING ON EDGE FOR INFORMATION.WHEN SOMEONE TELLS ME SOMETHING I TAKE THEM ON THEIR WORD. WHEN IM TOLD I WILL CALL YOU WITH ANSWERS OR ANY RESULTS AND I DONT GET THAT CALL I DIS-TRUST MY DECISION. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO WENT TO BAPTIST AND THEY ARE ON TOP OF ALL IS GOING ON WITH HER , LIKE THEY ARE HER BEST FRIEND. THINKING OF SWITCHING TO ANOTHER LOCATION IF I DONT HEAR ANYTHING IN A FEW DAYS . I AM NEVER A PRUDE AND TALK DOWN ABOUT ANYTHING. BUT THIS IS NOT FAIR AT ALL. JUST GIVING HEADS UP.. GOOD LUCK ON CONVERSATION WITH YOUR TEAM ...

Sorry your having a hard time. My Dr, is in the same office as Dr. Allen.  After everything was done that my insurance needed done, I think it was beginning of April. I called my insurance myself to make sure everything was turned in correctly and stayed in touch with the scheduler, Connie and I had my surgery May 31. Dr. Tanner seems to be on top of things and he is new to that office and less patients and waiting time

I went to the new Nortons Center Tues and there were lots of patients  waiting to see Dr. Rodriquez. He is wonderful. I really like him. Dr Tanner did my surgery in 9/2009. I have had no luck with getting restriction. Twice my band was too tight and I had to start all over again. I think the scheduling process could be greatly approved. Why not afternoon hours for people who work? There are plenty of Drs. Why cant nurses do the fills? I am a nurse and I could do them. It is no diferent than someone who has a medical blood port. Maybe Medicare requires a MD only to fill??A bigger place, newer place that adds up to longer waiting time is not better. It took me a little over 6 months from seminar to surgery. Good Luck.
