Humana- Kentucky employees plan
bummer about the VSG not being covered, my DS was covered its just not done in KY yet, I have to go to Indiana. They do have a psych there at Norton, I guess you will have to pay that seperately. I got mine done there as well as NUT, it cost $300.00 but you can use them for life if you need to. Best of luck to you on your journey
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

Hey Trina,
If you are going to the bariatric clinic downtown for the psch and nutritional appointments(I think Drs. Gellar and Shina send their people down there for those appointments too) then the therapist you mentioned will be doing the psych eval. It's not a full-fledged psych eval though. George and Mary are licensed clinical social workers. What they do equates more to a simple interview where they will ask the typical questions that you've already answered when you submitted your application packet. They mostly just want to see if you have realistic goals and if there's any obvious indicators that you may not be a good candidate so if you have any horns hide them!!! (JUST KIDDING!
)
Do you have a morning or an afternoon appointment? What they do is schedule 4 people for the same time and they will rotate you between a video, the nurse, the nutritionist and the therapist. Should only be about 2 hours or maybe a little less for the whole thing.

I always keep my horns hidden!! LOL .. honestly I think I have realistic goals. I hope I lose steadily but my main goal is to get to a weight where I am healthy and can maintain it. Yes, I am going downtown tomorrow at noon. We are on spring break this week so it worked out perfectly. They told me I would be there for about 2 hours. My husband is planning to go with me. What does the nurse do? And what is the video about.
I'm sorry, I didn't realize that there was a response until today! I hope everything went well for you yesterday! My next step after the psych and NUT consult was to meet with the surgeon for his consult. That took about a week for the call but I put the appointment off for about 3 weeks due to his schedule and my vacation plans. Knowing my chunky days were limited I went on vacation not thinking about diets and simply enjoyed myself more than I should have!! LOL....7 days at Disney how can you NOT come back a with a few pounds as souveniers?? We are going to Disney again this Fall and I plan on having my 1yr pictures taken with the Genie from Alladin just like my before picture was!
Everything went well. I go to see Dr. Geller this Friday 4/25... it's a rough week for me because I work in a school and we are doing CATS testing this week... I also have finals in 6 college classes for myself... but, I am not changing my appointment I am going come hell or high water.... or earthquakes!!! LOL
I am a state employee as well! I am now in the waiting game... They told me once all my tests were back and they would send to the insurance company and I should know something in a week or two... So today makes it one week... I know I shouldn't be but I am a nervous as a cat waiting to hear something...
Good luck to you!
