Did they specify how much weight you have to lose every month?  I know it's hard but hang in there.  Your next 5 months will be up before you know it and you'll be joining us on the losers bench.  I had to go on liquids 2 weeks before surgery.  I lost 13 pounds in 2 weeks.  I know you don't want to do it now and then have to do it again before surgery but you might try it  4 or 5 days before you go to dr.  I would only do this as a last resort.  I would just cut out all sodas, sweets, bread and potatoes.  Stay with chicken and turkey and good veggies.  Good Luck!!!

Hi Gwen, Have you asked the dietician specifically for a pre-op diet?  Sometimes you have to spell it out slowly for them to understand what you need, they seem to go a mile a minute and don't slow down to listen sometimes!

If the dietician isn't any help after that i'd simply look online (or go to the library) for a livable high protein-low fat-low-carb diet that you like.  I know of three such diets: Atkins, South Beach, and Weigh****chers has a CORE diet that focuses on protein as well.   I feel for you doing a 7-month diet prior to the surgery!  Previously, I was always good on my diets for about 3 months and then would have a blow out and start the re-gain process!  I assume the insurance is using this as a test of how serious a person is going to be once they actually have the surgery (also might be a weeding out process).  Don't let them win!  Feel free to hang out here for support and you can even journal your daily diet and activity with Dawn and me if you would like too!

Good Luck!!
