On days when my husband is home and I want to go to the YMCA to workout he usually volunteers to go with me and will take the daughter swimming in the heated pool while I get my grove on.   This is what we did today and it all started out routine BUT just as soon as I had finished the strength portion of my workout the fire alarms starting going off and all the lights started flashing!  Well, the momma bear in me immediately came out and I headed for the pool area instead of out the front door like they were telling us.  I thought it was actually some sort of drill but decided I'd help Richard with Gracie since they would both be dripping wet.  I grabbed their towels and met him in the hallway outside of the pool area.  We thought we'd only have to go to the lobby area but NO they were actually trying to send wet people out the front door in 34 degree weather!!  When I saw this I cut behind the staff and ran to the locker room and grabbed Gracie's coat but I'm sorry to say hubby was SOL though since his coat was in the guy's room.  They relented a bit and the wet people were able to stand in the breezeway for a few minutes but when the fire department showed up they made EVERYONE go outside!   Granted, I know this was for the safety of all but there were wet & barefooted babies, kids and adults everywhere!  There also was no indication of an actual fire. They figured that a basketball had hit one of the sensors in the gym and that's what set everything off.  We took one beach towel and placed it on the ground for kids to stand on and those adult who were dry tried to huddle and shield the little ones.  I did have one blanket in the car and got that out to throw overtop of the kids who were closest to us.  All in all, we spent about 20 minutes out in the elements.  After this fun diversion though Richard and Gracie said that they were done and ready to go home so I wasn't going to be able to get my cardio workout.  I did manage to get 17 minutes in though after I sent tham off to get dressed.  Not as much as I had wanted but better than nothing! Well, that was my excitement for the day!  All I can say is it's never boring for long around here!

Oh my gosh!!  I spend a lot of time at the Y pool and I think about that sometimes - what if we have to go outside dripping wet. . . I think I need to rethink leaving my stuff in the locker room!!
