Keeping track - 2/10/08
FOOD:
B - 2 egg cheese omelet with 2 slices thin deli ham. had 1 or 2 bites of hash browns
and they got REALLY stuck (came back up) so they are now on my avoidance list.
S - S/F jello pudding cup (frozen on a stick!)
L - Cheesecake
(it was good too!)
D - Left over fajita's from chili's with black beans (just the meat, vegies and beans)
EXERCISE: Sunday is my true lazy day....I plan on reading a book. Might do a load of laundry but that's about it.

B- 1 cup of dry honeynut cheerios
L-????????????????? its 3:04 now so I think I am a little past lunch
D -got a small boneless porkloin in crockpot and going to shred it for pulled pork tonight, have some baked beans and some type of green veggie
Snack- probably my 10 calorie SF popsicle dreamsicle bars

I'm not very good at counting calories and I still haven't figured out my way around fitday yet! My best guess is that on a "good" day my calories are between 1,000 and 1,200. Since my last fill about a week and a half ago I decided to get my butt in gear and clean up my diet. Today's cheesecake kinda blew it but i'm PMSing (that's my story anyway). I threw up my breakfast and once I felt better from that I knew that slice of cake from the restaurant last night was endangered!
My NUT hasn't given me specifics on calories, carbs and such (more guidelines than anything). I do try to get 50 - 60 grams of protein in per day like she said I needed to though. She says I should be eating about 1/2 to 1 cup volume per MEAL (major typo! i had origionally said per day) and I can still eat on the upper end of that and maybe a bit more.
Are you doing 3 meals a day or spreading it out further to 6 smaller meals?
Best thing about this thread though is we are not judgemental (i feel like I can speak for Dawn and Vicki on this one) so please do post when you feel comfortable!
In regards to eating, On some days I spead it out, depending on how my day starts and others I just eat the 3 meals. Unfortunately I have been eating what I want and can swallow but limiting my caloric intake. This may not work well with the band. When I read your 1/2 to 1 cup volume per day I see my problem. I am restricted but not so I am unable to eat only 1 cup of anything. For example, We went out to breakfast at Cracker barrel. I ate 3 eggs, 1/2 slice of wheat toast, 2 slices of tomatoe, 2 sausage patties. I ate it slow. I did not drink anything. I ate a soy joy bar for snack and I ate 3 chicken wings for dinner (my sister in law had us over). Later, I drank a whey protein drink, and a southbeach diet protein water, exercised on the treadmill, and had a Schwan Sherbet mini. This totaled 1104 calories consisting of 71 proteins, 56 carbs and 64 fats. I was really hoping to have this off by November. I will change my whole eating plan this week and see what happens. Maybe I need another fill.
1100 calories in a day sounds great to me! There are others out there who are doing maybe 900 calories a day but I just can't do that. I really need to get the specifics from my NUT on my next appointment to see where she thinks I need to be on calories, carbs, etc.
Here's my theory though:
I know that on some days (probably more than I realize) I eat more than is recommended BUT even on those days still I'm eating less than I did before I was banded. It may make things slow in regards to weightloss but it will continue to come off. Granted, I have to make the healthier choices as well to keep from eating around the band.
Now, I know there are a lot of holes in my theory which is why I'm not one of those people who have lost 50 or so pounds by now. I happily accept my 32 pounds weight loss (divided by 14 weeks = 2.28 lbs per week). I'd rather lose a bit slower and find what works for me rather than be miserable. Now when I quit losing I will have to re-examine all of this (LOL)!!
Dr. shina wants you to eat 900 calories a day. I DO NOT keep track of that though. I eat when im hungry and try to stick to bandster rules. But the thing is... Friday, Saturday and Sunday I ate junk, that is all I can call it. Mass junk fest 08. I weighed this morning and the scales had MOVED!!! What on earth??? I cheat And the plateu breaks?? ughhhhh dawn

I have found that when I fall under 900 cals a day and do not get my liquids in I DO NOT LOSE!!
It is funny that when I feel I have been overeating for a couple of days I drop a couple of lbs. So I try to hit 80 g protein and 100 oz of liquids. Hot tea has been my saving item for liquids. i drink them all day in between my new addiction of SF Vanilla Lattes! (8 g protein 110 cals) I could live on them! LOL
Even now I try to limit the amount to under a cup for a meal. 8 oz is about the limit of what is comfortable and not trying to come back up on me.
