I know you can order unjury...but I would ask the dieticians at the center, not sure but they could have samples for you..  Once you are getting in protein from regular foods you can start looking around and trying different types.  I am going on 5 yrs out now, I still do a protein drink a day..it's important for healing and health..and it keeps me on track.   Just because a protein product says the word "Whey" doesn't necessarily mean it has all you need for good nutrition..remember in the beginning you need it as a replacement so it must meet certain standards according to Dr. Tom and the dieticians.  I would highly recommend sticking to that for at least the first 3 months..that way if the doc sees something in your blood work that he questions, he is very aware of supplements, beit vitamins or protein that you are taking in. email the office for recommendations..or email unjury to see if you can purchase samples just to get ya started. good luck!! I use the Wal-Mart protein drink also.  I have only bought one container from GNC, it was on sale.  They seem to do the trick as regards providing the protein of 20gm and 100 calories.  The price was good at around 14.00 and I got the vanilla and chocolate.  At the GNC store I picked up mixed berry.  There are a lot of them out there with no carbs but they are expensive.  I also drink the Special K water which is 30 calories and 5gm of protein.  I add skim milk or water to my shakes but I really don't  make a shake of them.  I mix it up with 8 oz of water put it in the freezer while I do 20 minutes on the treadmill then drink it.  For me it's just a source of protein not a meal.

Beth at Dr. Tom's office also reccomended GNC's Isopure.  Ive used that before when I worked out and it is one of the best tasting out there.  The Unjury is online only.  Beth also said to look for Protein ISOLATE.  That is a huge difference, because most Protein shakes are Protein Blends and do not have enough of the right protein.   Isopure

well there ya go...I will say one thing of many about the docs patients..they are well educated by the time they have surgery..you guys are awesome!!! I have taken Isopure and poured it over crushed ice or made shaved ice, I have one of those little machines that makes icies.....not so bad actually. I am so particular about my shakes because I am lactose intolerant so they have to taste good without milk..once in awhile I purchase lite soymilk.. Thanks for the info.

You can buy sample packets from unjury, either indivdual or a box of 6, they are $1.75 each. I bought some to try out now before the surgery to find something I liked. I really liked the unjury. Iam seeing Dr. Allen in Louisville, and theres a sign that you can buy the unjury there. How is the stuff from Wal Mart? I know the unjury tastes pretty good, my husband tasted it first for me because it scared me, and even he liked it.

Hey there I am going to order some Unjury tomorrow probally let me know if you want me to order you some and we can meet up and you can pay me for it and that way we can probally get free delivery.  I was told by several people that the Walmart chocolate protein powder mixed the sugar free carnation instant breakfast and skim milk is good.  I bought some of the Isopure water from GNC also.
