problems with KDMC!?

Ok so I attended the informational seminar over 2 weeks ago at KDMC. At that time they told everyone that we would all be called within a week to set up an appt. Now almost 2 weeks later and still no call. I gave then the week and then I thought ok maybe I should call them. Out of the countless times I have called I have only got to talk to a real person 3 times but of course its not the person I have to talk to so they keep telling me to call back. Everytime I call I get an answering machine to the lady I need to talk to so I have left several messages and none have been returned. I am starting to get frustrated. I am started to look at another hospital right now. If they are this hard to get a hold of then what would happen if after surgery I immediately needed to talk to someone. Has anyone else had this problem?  Thanks

I'm with you, if you can't get ahold of a person now what's gonna happen after surgery when you need help?  Keep looking and make sure you find someone you are comfortable with.  I went to three of those meetings before I found the right fit.  I think I sent you a personal message the other day, reply to me if I didn't,  Sometimes I think I doing something and think I did it already.  No its not old age, just too many parties in my younger days I guess.

I actually did have the same problem but i was sooo ancy after a week..I called them UNTIL I GOT A HOLD OF SOMEONE and they set me up an appointment and I got right in...its actually really good to call around 10:00 am..and call strait to the hospital 606-327-4000..press zero then ask to be transferred to medical weight loss. That is how I had to do it b4 I got an actual response =D also what insurance do you have and I might be able to go ahead and help you get some things prepared b4 your first visit =D If you need anything else just let me know..and also what doctor did you decide to go with?

Hi Gina. I live in Pikeville Kentucky I also had problems with KDMC. I attended their Medical Weight Loss Program as per my Insurance Requirement. After I atteneded for 6 months and was approved for Surgery they told me they wanted me to lose 150 pounds before surgery. They never told that in the beginning. I also could never get a in touch with a real person never got a return call. I went to Saint Joseth East. They Usually always answer the phone and it is their policy to call you back the same day. My first meeting with Dr. Nighbert I told him what happened to me he told he was the captain of the ship know and he would do my surgery to never worry again he done surgery on people who needed it. He wasn'nt afraid of making his numbers look good. And within 3 weeks I had surgery. I went in on Tuesday and got out on Thursday. Friday evening I got on my 4-wheeler and checked on my cattle. So you can make up your own mind about Saint Josepth East. Dr. Nighbert told me to call KDMC and tell them they are a bunch chicken ****s. Send me all the high risks patients you want I will do them. I have called them on the weekend and at night when I had gallbladder trouble he took my gallbladder one day and I went back to work the next. Thanks guys for your input. It has gone beyond frustrating. I mean if you don't want to do the surgery then just say so instead of keeping me hanging on. I have once again called several more times leaving messages and once again nothing. I am giving them until Friday and I will go with someone else. I have already started looking into St Jospeph and Georgetown.

I had surgery there on 12/14/2006. It seems to me that it took them a couple of weeks for them to contact me after I went to the informational seminar.  Any time I have left a message for the SWL team they have gotten back with me with in 24 hours. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble getting them to return your call. I do know they are usually very busy at the end of the year trying to work people in. I was the same way, I wanted to have mine done because I had my deductables met. I have had great success with my surgery and would not hesitate to recomend Dr. Wheeler and the Surgical Weight Loss team at KDMC. I know all you can base your opinion on is the way you have been treated so far. I am going to forward this thread to one of the SWL staff. It took them longer than I would like to get my insurance approval; however, after that I have nothing but compliments regarding Dr. Wheeler and his staff.  I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Wheeler and believe that he would meet me at the ER anytime night or day that I needed.  Plus, I have no problems scheduling fills - the band can be high maintenance so I have called a lot.  Once when I was very sick, they wanted to schedule me for late afternoon.  I called back and said I wanted Dr. Wheeler to meet me at the ER and was told to come straight to his office as soon as I could make it to Ashland.  After that trip and hospital admission, Dr. Wheeler called me at home the following evening after 10pm to check on my progress. Just curious, who do you need to speak with at his office?

Actually they did finally call me back on the Thursday after this post. I go see them on Jan 8th and I am so excited!!!!
