Please give me your thoughts.....what will happen??
Hey everyone-I am freaking out. I got my first fill yesterday in my band and did great last night. Today I totally messed up. We had dinner at my mom's and I ATE a little bit of chicken and about 4 maccaronnis before I remembered I'm supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks. Now I am scared I have messed the band up somehow! Everything feels fine, no reflux, no pain, nothing. What can happen??? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Usually they say liquids cause u could swell some etc. But ofcourse u know I am no bandster. lol If somethin was gonna happen I think it would have by now. You would have gotten as we call it the foamies and maybe vomited.
Just my thoughts but I think ur ok. Just go back to what ur supposed to do now.
Goodluck!
Just a lil note to warn all pre and post ops. GET YOUR PROTEIN IN EVERYDAY!!! I have done rather crappy with mine since day 1 and I am paying dearly with VERY slow weight loss, major hair loss, and all out feelin like shit! PLEASE!!!! Follow your program's rules!!
Giggles. Threw u off with the foamies comment huh. lol Bandsters can have this too. I think they call it PB or somethin which I never understood. lol
Full uncomfortable feeling in the chest from eating too much, not chewing well enough, too big of a bite, eating too fast, dry meats and things like that. Its not fun. Ive done it several times as I learn to eat again. Mine usually ends in me vomitting but not everyone does that.
I am doing ok. Still stay tired alot so that is annoying. I now in 1 month's time I have had the foamies several times and dumped once. I am down 33lbs now. I knew it wouldnt be easy after surgery so I am doin ok with it all and love losing the weight and more impressed with the inches Ive been losing.
Hope ur doin ok. Talk to u soon.
Lisa,
Call Dr. Shina's office to double check but I bet everything is fine.
My MD is with Norton's as well and after a fill with him he says to do liquids for the rest of the day and then back to regular foods the next morning. Dr. Rodrigez who is also with that group tells his bandsters to do 3 days liquids, 3 days mushy then back to regular foods. Each MD has their own way of doing things and some are more cautious than others (apparently mine is very liberal).
I had my first fill 8 days ago and I actually was a little scared of my MD's liberal advice so did 1 day fluids and about 3 days mushy before getting brave enough to try real food again. To be truthful that first night I forgot and ate a single piece of canned mushroom while I was making spaghetti for everyone else's dinner! As soon as I swallowed it I remembered! I figured that since I did chew it and they are somewhat slimy anyway I wasn't going to fret.
Good luck and don't beat yourself up!

Lisa,
My doctor didn't put any eating restrictions on me after a fill until after my 5th or 6th fill. And then I was just advised to eat soft foods for 24 hours. I know a lot of doctors recommend several days of liquids or mushies, but mine doesn't and I've never had any problems.
If you didn't get a stuck feeling or start sliming (which can happen if something doesn't go down well--you start over-salivating), you should be okay.
Fills can cause your stomach to swell around the band in protest against the new pressure. That's why it's smart to baby your band for a day or two after a fill.
Good luck with your first fill. I didn't get much restriction until I had several fills, and it took 8 fills before I got good restriction. That took a frustrating 7 months, but I've kept good restriction for 9 months now.
