How much is the typical first fill?

I'm about a week and a half away from my first fill and was wondering how much each one of you got on your first fill?   I'm self-pay and only have my first four fills covered with my original payment to my doc and want to get the most bang for my buck!  My band holds 4cc.  I'm hoping that I can convince my MD to be a little aggressive and not just put 0.5cc in or some other small amount. I am doing well currently though.  Not overly hungry although I am eating more the 1 cup per meal, maybe 1.5 to 2 cups per meal.  Although I'd love to have lost 25 or so pounds by now 19 isn't too shabby either (i'm trying to convince myself of this).   My tummy is relatively happy with only baby growls and such.  Maybe bandster hell is like Dante's Inferno and there's varying degrees??  Maybe these last few days will be my real trial.... Thanks for any feedback! Becka

When I went for my first fill, I learned that I already had 1 cc in my 4-cc band from surgery.  I guess they put that amount in to make the band fit during surgery.  My first fill was .6, my second was .4, and my third was .5.  At that point, with 2.5 cc's, I could finally tell I had a band.   My next fill was.3, and my next was .2, putting me at 3.0.  All of my subsequent fills have been .2 cc's, and I have 3.8 now. I know you want to rush restriction, but it really is better to inch up on it.  Use this time to get your new eating habits in place so that when you do get restriction, you'll be ready for it.  Do the best you can with your food choices.  Yes, you'll be hungry if you eat small meals and don't have restriction, so allow yourself to eat regular snacks.  Always eat solid protein first so you'll have the best satisfaction possible. Your real weight loss will come when you get restriction.  Until then, your band isn't really working.
