Hi To You,
Yes I do hear what you are saying - I can really relate to not remembering to do everything they tell you. It's like your mind goes back into auto pilot and you keep trying to do and eat the same that you've always done ( I think thats what the definition of insanity is..... ha ha - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result! )
I saw that Dr. Rodriguez was your surgeon. I went to him for a bit.
I know that his patients seem to love him, but I found I wasn't getting the support I needed from him or his practice. He has such a full practice, and with his New York personality... you kind of felt like cattle being hurded in and out. So then I started seeing Dr. Sonnastine in Florence and his practice and approach is night and day from that of Dr. Rodriguez.
I really feel like Im starting all over again with the band. When I first went to Dr. Rodriguez I had been having a problem with being too tight, and he wanted me to get an upper GI which revealed I had "Esophageal Dialtation" and had to have all the fluid removed for 6 weeks to see if it corrected itself ( which It did ) but in that time I gained back a whopping 56 lbs! And then ended up gaining another 20 lbs getting my fills up to having enough restriction.
It was a totally devistating experience for me and am just now starting to loose weight again SLOWLY, and have only lost 6 lbs.
In seeing Dr. Tom, and asking others - if this complication happens with others in his practice he said the esophagus goes back to normal in 2 wks.
So basically I was left without any restriction for a month longer than I should have had to and gained 75 lbs back! I had gotten rid of my larger size clothes and had to go out and buy new clothes and one week I would buy something and put it on the very next week and it wouldn't fit - NO JOKE. So if you ever do have that complication or anyone else who might read this.... 2 wks should heal the problem!
So, I do feel like Im starting all over. I admit it all got out of hand and I let myself get too tight in the past and never did learn a thing. So I am really trying my best to get this right this time.
I appreciate you writting. Id love to stay in contact with you. You are one of the first I've talked to who has the band, so you really understand what one deals with.
Thanks,
Barbara
