Question ~
I just wanted to know if the rest of you out there struggle with having enough restriction that you are able to loose weight with your band, but because of that restriction throwing up constantly. My Dr. says I shoud only be throwing up once every two weeks. I have had the band for almost 3 years now and I just dont think its possible. Is anyone else out there with me on this?

who is your doc?..just curious..
my husband is having the band (hopefully, if he gets insurance approval)..Dr. Sonnanstine tells his patients there are two reasons for throwing up..bad eating habits or the band is to tight..
so my goal for my husband is that he stays compliant and that he recognizes if he needs a fill or if the band is to tight..
I am excited about his band, we will be the perfect family...one RNY one bander..lol
Hi Brenda,
My Doc is actually Dr. Sonnastine as well, however he did not do my surgery. I just moved to this state almost a year ago now. He is the 3rd band Doc I've seen here. I really like him, and have actually just made another appt. to have some fill removed. I think that I have just never had just the "right fill". I've never lived close to my fill Docs so that really adds to the challenge. I wish your husband well, I believe Dr. Sonn is one of the best Dr.s out there.

I could not agree more, he is pretty awesome...I met him 3 yrs ago while putting together the ObesityHelp conference in Cincinnati. fortunately for me we just clicked and that was it..he took me under his wing and trained me as a patient advocate..I spent some OR time with many of the pt's who come on the board here and even more pt's families as they wait during surgery time. At this time I am going through the process with 3 of them..
I had some complications after plastic surgery (a year ago Nov 6th)with a huge open wound..Dr. Sonnanstine took over my care, watching over me closely for several months..yesterday I saw him again due to a place that just won't heal -so back into the OR I will go..the Friday after Thanksgving..this time I ask if I can stay awake for the procedure..he said..sure if you really want ..am I crazy or what?..I just spoke to Taryn over the phone, she thinks I will do great awake..I won't have the side affects of the anesthesia and will go home right after..I have watched him operate but being on the table and able to talk to him during is gonna be a bit strange ..lol
if I can do anything for you at all, please don't hesitate to contact me..Dr. Sonnanstine will figure out your fill..he wants you comfortable and doesn't want you throwing up!!!

My doctor says she does revisions on people every week because of problems like this. I think if you can't get your problems resolved with your surgeon you really should seek a second opinion. That is just no way to live. Sorry you are having problems.
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I really hope that works for you. I hate hearing about people suffering after surgery, especially so far out. Anyway, I am having the Duodenal Switch with Dr. Margaret Inman at St. Vincent's Bariatric Center in Carmel, IN. Or at least I am waiting on insurance approval. I hope you feel better soon.

Brenda,
I will be there on thurs. for my adjustment. Ok- now what surgery did you have? Did he perform your weight loss surgery. And does he also do cosmetic surgery too, or is he just taking care of your wounds that wont heal? So is where you live near cincinatti and Dr. Tom? I live in Somerset Ky 2 1/2 hrs from him so it makes it a challenge. But it is better than the distance of my last Dr. 3 1/2 hrs from my home.
Thanks for your support Brenda - Ive been through a lot with this band and I just want to "Get It Right". Im really glad I found Dr. Tom. He is a really involved Dr. which is quite rare.
