Hi Darlene!  I had my gb taken out the old fashioned way in 1988.  It was very painful, and I was in the hospital for 10 days.  The surgery itself was a breeze, it was the getting out of bed and moving around AFTER that was painful.  They've come a LONG way since then, and if it is going to be laproscopic you will do great!  I'm sure the pain will be minimal-I had my lap band last Friday and have only used 3 of my pain pill since I left the hospital (and that was just to help me sleep!)  Don't sweat it.  This is a fairly routine procedure, and you will ace it I'm sure!!  Thank goodness for modern medicines!!  Good luck and God Bless!

Just a lil note to warn all pre and post ops. GET YOUR PROTEIN IN EVERYDAY!!!  I have done rather crappy with mine since day 1 and I am paying dearly with VERY slow weight loss, major hair loss, and all out feelin like shit!  PLEASE!!!!  Follow your program's rules!!

I had mine out in 2003, and it was a breeze! I only was in pain for about 6 hours, and I never needed the pain meds after that. I felt good enough to go back to work 2 days later, but I couldn't because the dr wanted me to wait the 2 weeks instead! It is well worth the time off tho, because you will feel like actually doing something 3 or 4 days afterward! Good luck with having it removed!
At Goal! 165 pounds gone forever! Thank you Lord!

I had mine taken out 4 months after my lap-band surgery.  I was a little uncomfortable for a few days, but it was a pretty easy surgery.  Best of luck!! Sara

Hi Darlene

I had my gb removed in 1990, It isn't so bad.  My sister who had bypass surgery in Dec is having hers taken out on the 34th.  If your stil there I'll stop by to see you, but you'll probably be home by then.  Don't worry, you'll do just fine.  Remember how well you handled your bypass surgery.  and besides yu'll feel much better afterwards.  I think of you and your sister often,  glad to hear from you.

Love you

charlotte

Mine had to come out 1 year post op.  It was done laproscopic.  It wasn't bad at all.  The pain before getting it out was much worse.  Good luck

Jane
