Please help me out. I am 8 weeks out and never feel full. Others say they take a couple of bites of food and can not eat the rest. Not me! I do make healthy choices that are high in protein, low in fat and sugar, veggies and fruits, But...I can eat a regular size meal. Why? I take my time and chew and never feel full much less stuffed. I can for example eat a skinless baked chicken breast, baked potato with ff sour cream and shreaded lf cheese, and spinach. Do I feel full? NO! I can eat a cup of light yogurt with 1/4 cup all bran for breakfast, a 3oz can of tuna with light mayo, spinich and a piece of fresh fruit for lunch. Is something wrong with me? Oh yea, when ever I drink ANYTHING-water, cl, protein, it hurts. Is that crazy or what???? I am soooo scared that someting is wrong with me. Please, please help me out.

Hi Gerri, I did the same thing for a few months after my surgery, and I promise you it does get better.  The best thing to do would be to talk to your surgeon about how you're feeling.  I talked to mine and his head nurse about it and they kept telling me that my brain was just telling my stomach that I was hungry, because that's how it was trained to feel my whole life, and now it has to "re-program" itself.  Eventually it did work out.  Anytime I still felt hungry, I would either drink more liquids and add protein, or I would find something to do to take my mind off of it.  It just takes some time.  But I do think you should talk to your doctor, or your nutritionist if yours is available.  I hope this helps!

I too am about 8 weeks out. I had my surgery on 8/27. My experience has been different from you. When I eat a piece of chicken for lunch I can only eat a few bites and then I am full. I haven't tried a baked potatoe or salad but it sounds good. I have been scared to try things because I don't want to throw up. If I take a big gulp of water it does hurt but if I just breathe threw it it gets better. Does it hurt after you eat? Sometimes if I overeat my stomach or chest hurts. I would have to agree with her and say that it will probably get better. I'm sure everyone is different. How is your weight loss since surgery? Talk to your doctor but just hang in there I'm sure your doing great.....

Hi Gerri................i just wanted to say hang in there ok. I had such eating issues at first. I could eat alot to at first..........but here is what i did. I knew i better learn to limit my self early out. So this was a regular day 2 mo out..

pre-Break- Protein drink with lowfat milk Break- 1 egg, 1 piece bacon, salsa Snack-cheese sticks 2 Lunch-2 or 3 oz tuna or chicken, and cheese snack-yogurt Dinner- 1/2 CUP or a little more of chili Snack-Protein shake choc like hot chocolate See i would only eat what i measured out. Somedays one bite would make me get the foamies and then again i could eat a cup of something within 30 min. I would say as long as your losing some weight, then dont worry. But i do no this..............if you dont get in the protein it will slow your weight loss. And i had to drink out of medicine cups like 1 or 2 oz at time till my pouch adjusted. But hot things worked  for my pouch. So if you get to concerned call your doc. They dont mind if we have concerns and bother them.............thats what they are there for............Good luck..                                                                                                                                        Vickie

Thank you so much!  I have started to cut back and measure my foods and i have increased my protein. I feel better knowing that I am not the "only one", and that I can still be successful.

thanks & God bless,

Gerri
