Bari Boot Camp

  Hey.. I'm posting this a little late.. but I'm having the Lap RNY next monday through St. Joseph  East and I'm scheduled for my surgeon's appointment tomorrow morning.  If anyone who went through the Center for Weight Loss Surgery reads this, what exactly is Bari Boot Camp?  It would be much appreciated.  :)

Bari Boot Camp is where you register with the Pass Nurse. (All that means is that you won't have to register at the hospital on the day of your surgery.)

You also will sit in the educational room for a couple hours and one of the nurses will tell you all about your surgery date including what to wear, what to bring, what to expect. She'll show you an example of the stitches you'll have, and she'll tell you about the medications you'll be given. She'll reinforce the importance of walking around after surgery & she'll show you how to use the incentive spirometer. It's no biggie, really. Just a lot of cool & important info that may answer some of the questions you might have about your big day.

I recommend taking a semi-frozen bottle of water with you. lol You'll be there a while, and I was dying of thirst when we got out of there!

Thanks!  I just got back and it really was no big deal.  :)  That was the last step before surgery on Monday.  Can't believe it!

Aww congrats! I will cross my fingers for you next week. You seem to be in great spirits, so just keep up the positive attitude. It will help you sooo much. Very soon you'll be glad you did this!! I'm 8 months post-op and I have no regrets at all. So you're headed in the right direction!!
