Hello everyone...my name is Sharon and I have been on the board now for a few months reading all your supportive posts, but have yet to interduce myself. I started this journey a couple of years ago, wanting help but not really knowing where to get it.  To make a long story short,  I had my grastic bypass on Sept 18th and can't believe how smooth things have went!!   Dr Rodriguez did my surgury at Deconess, and he is really great. I guess I am still in a little shock, but I have had no problems at all except getting in all those fluids AND protien.  Seems like everyone does! Well I am not a computer wiz, even though I work on one all day, but I hope to be included in all this love and support you all share.  I know I will need you all. Please include me in your prayers and I will do the same for you.  BTW...Jane , Amy and Mimi are my husbands cousins, so I know they will be there for me.  I have a lot of weight to lose to catch up with them!! Hope this wasn't to long, but I wanted to say Hi to everyone. Sharon

Hey Sharon, Welcome to the board now that you've come out of hiding;) I have not had surgery yet but am hoping to have it before the end of the year. The people on here are quite wonderful and I am sure you will get lots of support. I'm glad to hear that you have done so well with your surgery....those are things us pre-op'ers like to hear as we look down the road to that day when we are finally on the loser's bench. Thanks for sharing your story and I hope to hear more from you.  I pray that God keeps you strong as you continue on your journey and that the road continues to be smooth and without complications. We know that your smooth journey thus far is a testament to Our Lord's Glory and I praise Him in Jesus' name. Amen. Take care, Kellie

HEY SHARON, I had my surgery on 8/27 and I too have been doing really well. Getting in fluids does get easier as time goes on I am 4 weeks out and am able to do it. I have been on this site for about a year reading but didn't join until recently. I feel that this is a good outlet for us to be able to talk about our journey.  Good Luck and keep doing well.  Dannyell

Hi Dannyell, I am happy to meet you...I agree, even though I may have so much support here at home, it is nice to talk to people who are walking on the same path as you are and may be a little farther down the road, and can stop you from making a mistake before it happens.    I hope we can talk again soon! Sharon

Hello Sharon,  I had my surgery on 9/19/06, so we're bari-buddies! I remember when I had my surgery, it was so excited and nerve racking all the same.  I too had difficulties getting my protein in at first, but it does get better eventually. I always kept a bottle of water in my hand taking sips every minute or so. It really helped to get those fluids in.  You'll do fine and before you know it, you'll be a year out too.  And you'll be giving expert advice to the lurkers that are seeking information.  By the way, having Jane, Mimi, Sarah, and Amy on your side is probably the best support group anyone could have! Take care-- Dee
