Question for those who went through Norton's bariatric center in Louisville

Well I actually have a couple questions if ya don't mind. The first question is about the $300 fee you have to pay. Does this fee have to be paid when you turn your paperwork in or the day of the actual appointment? The first appointment you have is with the center? So how long did it take from the time you turned in your paperwor****il you got a surgery date? How long did it take for them to call you after you turned in the paperwork? I am scheduled on Oct. 9th to see a cardiologist for the stress test, the one they put some medicine in you to make your body think you are doing a real stress test?...I was wondering, do they do this test in the office or schedule it to be done at the hospital? After the test is over are you able to drive yourself home and will you feel bad for awhile afterwards? My PCP has ordered this test be done.  I figured while I was waiting for my medical records that I would at least make the wait productive, so I have the medical clearance from my PCP, go to the pulmonary Doctor on Thursday for those tests, and then the cardiologist on Oct. 9th. I was in the hospital recently so I already have the ekg, the venous doppler, the chest xray, the TSH test, the gerd test...etc... so I will be way ahead of the game when I go see them...or at least I hope I will.  Thanks for taking the time to read! God Bless. Kellie

hi, I don't go to the Dr. there , I go to Kings Daughter in Ashland, but about the stress test, I had one done, and ran on the treadmill, I live 2 hours from there, and had no problem at all driving home, I felt normal as I have ever been. just takes awhile and the treadmill was a killer, lol. good luck

Hey greeneyes, You did the Adenosine thallium scan and you still had to run on a treadmill?  I didn't write the name of the scan in my original post because I didn't know what it was but that is the scan I am having I think. Thanks, Kellie

You wont have to run on the tredmill since they are doin urs by way of PET scan.  Thats the one I had.  You lay in the machine (circle) for about 45 minutes.  The last part is 6 minutes of them puttin that medicine into ur body.  I had a VERY hard time with it.  I wont lie. I would have someone with u to drive.  You might be upset and very tired after the test for a lil bit. When Missy and I went through the thing at Nortons the fee was still 100.  I saw where it had went up to 300 though.  You will have to pay that the day u go in for ur psych and nut consults. You need anything just holler. I cant help alot with time frames apparently since I bounced surgeons but I was told at the time of my consult with Dr Allen that he is already booked through November so sometime before the new year I am sure you will have surgery.

Just a lil note to warn all pre and post ops. GET YOUR PROTEIN IN EVERYDAY!!!  I have done rather crappy with mine since day 1 and I am paying dearly with VERY slow weight loss, major hair loss, and all out feelin like shit!  PLEASE!!!!  Follow your program's rules!!

Hey Joy, I knew it was either you or Belinda who had the test but I couldn't remember.....does your memory improve with wls? LOL You know it's just my luck that I waited to do this thing after they raised the fee.....hehehe Oh well it is all worth it. How are you doing? So the test is done at the hospital then right? So I had the H-pylori test done in the office so I don't have to have the endoscopy now right? Well, I guess I better go I have a terrible case of cellulitis right now and it's uncomfy when my legs not down which it is now because I'm at the keys. Take care! Kellie

It sure would be nice if it improved memory lol. Im ok I guess... I had the Pet Scan done at Louisville Cardiology.  They are right next to Baptist East hosp. Im not sure about the endoscope.  I guess it depends on the surgeon but I know my list said "or" I think all the extra papers they want were faxed in now so I am waitin to hear. Oh and I meant to tell u.  You will probably end up billed around 80 for the psych and nut visits cause Medicare wont cover them.  You wont have to pay it all at once though.  I set up a payment plan with them once the bill came and I pay 20 a month. I hope ur cellulitis gets better soon! Take care and stay in touch.

Hi Kellie,

I went to the bariatric program at Nortons, I didnt have to pay 300, I am not sure where that is coming from, I paid 100.00 that was it, and it did have to be paid right then. I actually had mine done in January and my surgery was not even scheduled yet, they thought that was unusual but it worked.I did not have to have a stress test they said my ekg was fine so they didnt make me have one. You know I am here for you , pulling for you ...so if you have any other questions let me know.Dont forget the meeting tomorrow night at Suburban....You will love it. Missy

Hi Missy, Thanks for the info and the support! I hope I don't have to have that test since I do have a recent copy of my ekg. I have my appointment with the Pulmonary doctor at 4:15 pm today so I doubt that I will be able to make it to the meeting....gosh I didn't even realize they had one here! Take care and God Bless. Kellie

Hello there! I just wanted to say good luck with everything. I can answer a few of your questions, but not sure if it will help you any. I only had to pay $100 and it had to be paid right then and there, this was on July 15th. I guess their fee went up too $300 from what I am reading and hearing, ouch! I got my surgery date on Aug 17th so it didnt take to long."My date is Oct 1"... Who is your surgeon? I guess it depends on who your surgeon is and how fast you get all your info in. I had my heart and lung appointments in the middle of July also, everything went very fast. My EKG was good so I never had to do anything beyond that. I hope everything works out for you, and you get your surgery date asap! You will be in my prayers! Good luck and God Bless you! Toni

Hi Toni, Thanks for the support! I believe that I am going to go ahead and go with Dr. Kehdy even though he has not been in the practice as long as the other doctors have. Everything I have read about him sounds like he is a very good doctor and when I talked to Dr. Rod at the seminar he said that he is a good doctor and even though he's new has lots of experience. He also confirmed what I thought and that was that regardless one of the senior doctors will be in the surgery with him. The reason I am going with him too is because he already has my file since I have been seeing doctors in that office and I figure I will be able to get in alot quicker with him since he is not well established at this time. Of course when I finally meet him I may not feel comfy and then I guess I will have to choose a different doctor but I hope not. Thank you so much for the prayers, they are always needed by all of us and I will keep you in mine as well! Take care and God Bless, Kellie
