So I'm worried...

On Monday I am having my hysterectomy (FINALLY). I have to admit, I am more nervous about this than I was about my WLS. Not sure why? I feel like I have researched and informed myself as well as I can, however, for some reason this one is really making me nervous.

Maybe its because I was able to see wls support here, but there does not seem to be alot of support areas about hysterecotmies? Or at least any I can find. Anyways, if ya'll would say a little prayer for me Monday morning about 7:00 then that would be great! Thanks!

Hi, I just wanted to offer some support on your upcoming hysterectomy.  I had a total hysterectomy due to endometriosis at age 30.....almost 18 years ago.  I was very scared, didn't know what to expect....and thought I would somehow feel like a little old lady going through menopause.  I was so wrong.  The surgery actually gave me my life back because I wasn't in pain all of the time and didn't have to worry about any more periods!!  I am sure medicine has changed a lot since the time I had the hysterectomy.....for the better.  I am a TOTAL pain baby when it comes to any type of surgery or medical procedure.  It turned out to not be as bad as I built it up in my mind to be.  A few days of discomfort (but NOT extreme pain which I was expecting) but after that not so bad.  Just take it slow after your surgery and don't rush to get back into the swing of things.  Let your body heal and don't lift things you shouldn't......so you won't build up scar tissue.  I will keep you in my prayers for a sucessful uneventful surgery.  Take care.....
Melannie

Hello, I had my hysterectomy in Dec 2005 and after years and years of many female problems I have to say it was the best thing I have EVER done. (WLS is still in the future for me.)  There is a wonderful website that helped me through the recovery process called hystersisters.  Look for it - you'll be really gald you did.  GOOD LUCK - you'll feel so much better!!!
