Seizures???
I am currently undergoing testing to see whats causing my vertigo (dizziness) with my ear, nose and throat dr. I have 3 more test scheduled Sept 26, Sept 27 and Oct 3 before I go back and hear from all this. I'm also having allergy issues going on right now. Panic attacks that started when the vertigo started. I've never been a paranoid person but the last month or so is making me into one. I've been taking 50mg of Zoloft for over 2 weeks ( I know it takes 4 to get into your system), 25mg of meclizine when I get dizzy and 1mg of ativan twice a day if needed. This morning after Allison got on the bus and Adam got home from work I laid back down. I was sleeping pretty good and I don't know if I dreamed this or what and its going to sound weird, but my head felt like it started jerking. It woke me up and of course scared me. I laid there a few mins and took a meclizine and ativan and was ok. I went back to sleep for alittle bit. I don't know if I dreamed this "head jerking" thing or if its allergys, sinuses, or if I had a seizure. I hate to tell Adam because of all the other crap I'm being tested for. I'm afraid he'll think I'm paranoid and worrying over nothing. I had seizures in my sleep as a kid. Nothing ever came of it back then. I know this is Friday afternoon and all the dr's are going home. If it happens again and if I go to the ER is there some way that they can tell if u have had a seizure? If this is all part of the vertigo, allergys, or I just dreamed it, great. I don't want to have seizures. What do u all think?
If a seizure is to the point where ur jerking, it wont be just ur head doin it. And those seizures u wont be aware of at all.
Did u stop taking ANY kind of medicine around the time that all of this started???
As for the dizzy issues. I hope urs get better. I have been dealin with dizziness, sometimes severe for years now. I never mentioned it to my doc. It comes and goes and I didnt feel like having yet ANOTHER med tacked onto my daily schedule that most likely wouldnt work. I know when its gonna happen and I usually will get down, sitting etc.
How are ur sugars doin? Sleep apnea? Blood preasure ok? Most likely its in there somewhere. With my "spells" as I call them I would acctually "blackout" most times and even throw up.
A friend of mine thinks I have Fibromyalgia anyway and says he has dizzy spells and sometimes blacking out with his esp. when getting over tired. I too tend to have these "spells" when I become over tired. He has been through every test known to man.
Keep me posted on what u find out....
Just a lil note to warn all pre and post ops. GET YOUR PROTEIN IN EVERYDAY!!! I have done rather crappy with mine since day 1 and I am paying dearly with VERY slow weight loss, major hair loss, and all out feelin like shit! PLEASE!!!! Follow your program's rules!!
What you probably should do is have I think its called a cat scan of the head but we've done so many kinds of tests in this house between my daughter and me over the year or so I can't remember. It is the test where they attach the electrodes all over your head so the can register your brain activity.
My daughter started have seizures a year and a half ago or so and to look at her during a seizure you wouldn't know she was having one. In her case she just zoned out for a minute.....we didn't know what it was so someone suggested seeing a neurologist. The first neurologist did a regular cat scan during the day and she didn't have any, he did this a couple different times and finally said she was making it up. So I changed doctors and he set up an overnight cat scan where they watch her all night long, finally she had one that they could register and she was put on medicine.
She had a real tough time with it til they figured out what it was. She'd have them at school and then when she didn't know how to do something the teacher ffigured she was not paying attention, sometimes she would be walking with the class and she would just stop and stand still other times she would turn pale and then once it was over she'd get a headache. To this day she still has them but none of her body parts ever move involantarily.
I hope that helps so that maybe you can pay close attention and see if you have "strange moments" like she does and that might help you know if its seizures. I'm sorry for everything you are going through and I pray that it is all taken care of soon and you get to feeling better. I will pray for you!!

Your vertigo could be caused by your Vestibular Organ that is in the inner part of your ear. This is the part of your ear that keeps you upright. It can get infected, and you feel dizzy and out of place at times, and really feel like passing out, and sometimes you actually do pass out. There are excercises that physical therapists have developed to help strengthen this muscle back up after the infection has gotten out of it. Just talk it over with your dr. and ask him to test this as well. It will sometimes make you think you are having seizures, just do to the infection. If this is the problem, it will take just a couple rounds of steroids and antibiotics, along with the excercises to correct. It is annoying, but easily corrected. I certainly hope this is the case, and you aren't have seizures.
