9 Days To Go! Not Nearly So Nervous This Time!

Well, 9 more days till my surgery and this time, I am a lot more mentally prepared then I was when I cancelled before on 7/16. 9/24, have to be at Nortons at 7:30 a.m., a friend of mine is taking me so my brother can get my two sons off to school.

Have any of you tried the bullet drinks?  I think that is right.  They are 3 oz drinks that have 42 oz of protein?  Do you weaken them down with water?  Do you divide it up into 1oz drinks?  How do you do these? I have already told my college professors that I will be out that week, however, we are having our first psychology test for this semester on that Friday, 9/28 - so I am hoping I will be able to make that exam, I will be ready for it.

Well, this computer is acting up, so will get off of here for now.   Take care everyone.

Good luck with your surgery.  It will be the best decision of your life.   As for the protein bullets, you don't have to dilute them, just drink them straight.  I had tried them until my nutritionist said they are not a good source of protein.  You want to find a protein shake that has whey protein isolate above anything else, especially whey protein concentrate.  I don't remember what source of protein the bullet drinks have in them.   Are you having the lap band or the bypass?  If you are having the lap band done (that is what I did) you might be okay to go to just take your exam.  You will still be very sore and tired, but just sitting in class might be okay for you.  Just play it by ear and see how you feel.   Again, best of luck and keep us updated on your progress! ~Sara

I am having the gastric bypass.  I have a lot of the protein shake in the can with the whey protein, so I guess I will stick with them.  I have the chocolate and vanilla and I also have a can of the hot chocolate and nectar drink that a person was so kind to mail to me. As the psychology class is the only class I have on Fridays, I think I will be ok just to take the test and then probably leave.

I would also personally recommend a brand of protein powder called Body Fortress.  You can find it at WalMart, Kroger, Target, etc.  It tastes great and is pretty cheap.  I switched to that from Unjury pretty early after my surgery.  They have chocolate and vanilla.  Several people on this board use it and highly recommend it.

Gotta love the Body Fortress by Walmart! Only protein drink that I could actually enjoy! The bullets are REALLLLLYYY sweet. They remind me of snow cone juice. I tried several of the flavors and would put them over crushed ice. not bad, but overly sweet for me. Sherryl
