I am almost 4 weeks out....I had a bad surgery because of a bunch of scar tissue and I got penumonia, and what started out as a lap turned into an open. Sooooo I still have staples and a tube, but they come out next Tuesday, YaY....But anyway, I am getting better, I try to get out everyday with my 16 year old daughter, we go to wal mart or somewhere so I can get some walking in. So every time we go out I get sick, my sugar drops or like today we went to Tumbleweed and I ate a small cup of potato soup. And maybe 10 min. or more after I got so sick an had to dump.  and so nauseated. It seems like I cant even go out without getting sick and having to poop or sugar droping or getting weak or tired and having to sit down. Does it ever get better? Cindy

Cynthia, I don't know if you know this or not, but soups have high sugar content, especially restaurant soups! It sounds as though you're making a lot of progress from everything that happened to you at surgery! It's good your getting out and walking as this will make a huge difference for the better. Try and not over do it, giving your body plenty of time to heal too. Also, I found carrying string cheese, beef jerky, or a small protein bar helped with me  when out and about with blood sugars. I still have to carrying some kind of food with me at all times. Low blood sugar can happen to me at a drop of a dime, but my sugars are very manageable if I plan ahead. Maybe you could carry some kind of protein around with you for those times when you feel a low blood sugar coming on. It sounds like your making great progress, hang in there, it does get better. Hugs-- Dee

Thanks. I have been carrying some string cheese with me. I went out later with my daughter to the movie, took a protein drink and some string cheese.  Got a cup of ice poured my drink into it and ate a piece of string cheese at the movie. It did well. I am just going to have to learn what I can and cannot eat.  Thanks Cindy

Soups from most restaurants are loaded with sugars. So stick with the veg soups or chili's when dining out. Sounds like you are getting along and hopefully will continue to improve. Keep moving, that is one of the main factors in your recovery and weight loss. Sherryl
