im 8 months post op,, and ive lost 209lbs - i eat what i can eat the docs told me kinda what to eat and what to stay away from but honestly i dont think theres a set item list of what we can and cant eat being we all are different-- i really dont eat any kinds of meat anymore due to i cant stand them- they just arent worth the effort to chew them and take the chance on gettin sick from them- which ive  done several times- i eat what i can -take my vitamins and stuff- you talked about milk shakes- ive had a taste of a shake or 2 since my surgery and they kill me after  about a half a hour  after i eat some of them-- before i had no problem with milk but now milk bothers me and OJ does the same thing- im learning what i can eat and what to stay away from- sure i miss things but oh well its the price i have to pay for  being healthier which i WOULD DO ALL OVER AGAIN- i did weigh 568lbs but im down to 359 as of yesterday-oh and i see ya talk about certain things that ya love and now the thought of them makes you sick -- i think you are like me and you simply got sick of them but for me i got over that and was able to eat them again like tuna and stuff-- its a leaning thing and you will adjust im sure-- best of luck,,,,Marty

Thanks so much for the reply and many congratulations on your superb weight loss......can't imagine the work and dedication you have had to accomplish so much in so little time! I am in awe of you!  As for the approved and non approved foods for me, my Dr. has his patients stay in close contact with the dietician who helps plan out daily menus that provide X numbers of calories and protein.....in order to reach those numbers, but not surpass the calorie limit, you need to stick pretty close to that monthly plan.....and that is where I struggle.....as the planned Quaker Weight control oatmeal on my meal plan just gags me and some days I cannot stomach the scrambled egg.  I do well with a half slice of bread with peanut butter or cheese, but the bread is a defiite food sin and the dietician rejects any thoughts of bread or anything that is fried or breaded, even tho I have eaten a little fried okra three times and was just fine.with it!  Now, these no-no foods I only eat a very sall amount and my tummy feels so much better when I do these things. A few bites of grilled cheese set so well in my stomach that I have a hard time feeling guilty for eating that.  I have began to eat a little Wheaties cereal, but that is actually a no-no, as it does not have as much protein as the Quaker, and maybe a tad more sugar. But it digests well and does not cause nausea.  I will do a lot to avoid any thoughts of nausea.  I have not had one episode of the dumping syndrome I hear so much about.  I only get sick on foods that should be good for me and that are on my menu plans.Foods that cause problems for others I have taked to do not cause me problems at all. I guess that is not such a good thing in the long run; if something such as bread or a breaded piece of fish caused any discomfort or nausea I would avoid it altogether, but I have no such problems. Alas, I am just not normal; never was!!  Also, before surgery, I could look at an item of clothing and cold tell if it would fit or not.  Not any more.......I pick items I think should fit and they just hang on me.  It is difficult to realize that I wear a much, much smaller size now and I just cannot get my mind wrapped arouond the sizes of clothes that now fit well. Thanks again for your kind reply, and from your pix, you look great!! Sharon
