Having panic attacks?

Is there anything to do for a panic attack? I've been told over and over again that I have a sinus infection, my inner/middle ear is inflamed. Ok, my brain knows this but every night that I'm home alone I totally freak out. I get dizzy, my heart feels like its racing and I'm freezing even though its warm in here. I'm on my way once again to the ER even though I know theres nothing wrong, technically, why? Because I have this irrational fear that something is wrong. The nights my hubby's home and not working I deal with it better. I can't go on like this. He's worked nights for 6 yrs and I've never been afraid to go to sleep before. I've always been comfortable being home alone with the kids at night. What is wrong with me? I've got my dad and his gf on their way to stay here and get Allison ready for school in the am cause I won't let my irrational fears keep her awake or out of school. Could I be having panic attacks and is there something they can do for me?

I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.  Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.

I am so sorry to hear you are going thru this.  I too have panic attacks and they are very real.  The only way I started dealing with them without freaking out too much was just knowing that is what it was and that i was not dying or anything. Once several years ago before I knew what it was I drove myself to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack, they even put nitro under my tongue because my heart was beating so wild.   Now I rarely get them, only when I have went thru something pretty bad.     I was on Effexor XR for awhile and it helped a bunch, I am thinking about getting back on it. Hope this helped.

I have suffered from these since the death of my father in 1998. They are very scary and unless you have had one people don't understand. I was on medication for a bit but I don't like taking any medication so I got off of it. Something that helps me (I know it will sound weird) is water. I will go into the bathroom and turn on the bath water. I sit on the floor leaning over the tub and just move the warm water around with my hands. The whole time I concentrate on breathing and try to take slow, deep breaths. I have found that if you can get your breathing under control the attack will pass. I know this sounds weird but it really takes your mind off the freaking out part and you really concentrate on the water and breathing. My husband would know when I started to have one and he agreed that this really helped me. I hope this helps some. Know that you are not alone out there. You are not dying it just feels like it at the time. Let me know if this helps. Good luck!

I started having panic attacks after the birth of my second child. I didn't know what they were at first, but it almost felt like I was having an asthma/heart attack! They got worse and I tried to ignore them but I finally went to the doctor and she said they were panic attacks. I guess I was just overwhelmed with having two small children! I still get them, but my doctor gave me some medication for when I have them, or feel like I'm going to have them. In fact, I had one before my surgery!!! They gave me something in my iv to calm me down! lol.  The medication she gave me was called Xanax and they seemed to really help me. You have to be careful with those kinds of meds though because I got to where I felt like I couldn't do anything if I didn't have my medication. I have since then switched to a different medication called Klonopin. I only take them when I need to now and they help! It makes me relax.. it kind of makes me sleepy but they are wonderful!! You should really talk to your doctor about these because I'm sure they will be able to prescribe you something to help you get through them! Also deep breathing helps as well! I learned that from my therapist! Good luck and god bless!!! If you need to talk to anybody I'm here for you!!!
